You should be more upset with Kony Ealy not getting pressure off of KK.

KK got 9 of his sacks in 4 games last season.

The DT market is very generous in the NFL.

Sapp had double digit sacks in 4 of 13 seasons.

He had 5 or fewer sacks in 5 of 13 seasons.

He failed to register at least 1 sack in 129 of 198 games.

He registered multiple sacks in only 20 of those games.

Sapp is the #2 DT all time in sacks.

So, KK only has to put up a double digit sack season once every 3 seasons to be on pace with the greatest DTs in the game. He could go this season and next with a 3 sack season a 7 sack season, and then get a 10+ sack season in 2018 to stay on pace with the best DTs in NFL history.

If you want double digit sacks consistently, then look at the DEs. Expecting a DT to consistently get double digit sacks is ridiculous. I do not see anyone getting on Star for his inability to sack the QB, and he has not been perfect against the run. KK is a first round value DT. Star is a 3rd/4th round value DT.

So, why is it that KK is being criticized? Is it because he wants to get paid and the GM does not want to pay him his going rate? Are you going to hate on a guy that does not want to get low balled on his value? Do not expect players to give team discounts to teams with a front office that makes it known they are just a business culture that will not put value on loyalty/family.

No, Short was betting on himself like Norman did. It hasn't paid off. He's looked horrible along with Soliai. Star has done more but hasn't been that impressive either.

Star is doubled on the vast majority of plays. No other lineman is.

Be a KK apologist all you want. He just has not looked irreplaceable in five games this season.  Star is the only one close to living up to expectations on the line. He really is the big body of the D-line that everyone else is supposed to be evolving around.

Yeah if anyone would actually look and pay attention to KK when he gets single blocks he doesn't get push or is able to shed blocks like he was able to do so last year... I mean KK is not an awful DT, far from it.. just not a 17m/yr DT..

I agree.. but Jaquizz was always a panthers killer in Atl, Panthers get railed by the small stocky scat backs. Sproles, Rodgers, Freeman. We play a basic defense where you can get speed out or pick your holes inside for O line to have the upper hand.
