Run Defense

Went to the game on Monday and I noticed that on a lot of runs, Star was being pushed way off the ball and a lot of the times not by double teams. He would take a quit step to the outside and would be immediately pushed sometimes 4-5 yards back of the line of scrimmage. 

I thought Ealy and Charles Johnson actually played the run very well. The pass rush is another story. 

KK...didn't really notice him.

Large surprising disappointments: STAR, KK

CJ was excellent in stopping the run. He usually is. He just can't rush the passer as well anymore. We are allowing too man guards and tackles to go untouched to our LBs. I don't care how good Keek and Shaq are, you get a 300+ guy on them it's gna take them a a little bit to shed the block. The DTs like you mentioned with Star, have been a problem. We need our LBs free. I know not can't happen every time, but last year, this didn't happen as much.

Mr. Igo might remember a gentleman striking up a conversation with him this summer (by the trees in the  far corner of the Wofford practice fields). That gentleman mentioned to him a concern that Star looked significantly smaller. That gentleman was right.

Our starting DTs are not the same as last season.. they have no push.. and they are still young players.

So what is going on? Is Star just not motivated and KK trying to not get injured?

Honestly I think it's the lack of any fire/passion or swagger.. last year the team had plenty of it to go around.. since norman has left the team it seems it left with him.

Guys did you not see the Jumbo set Tampa was running from in the 1st half they basically out numbered the DL during the run plays of course your gonna get gassed out. It also hurts when you dont run blitz and try to react to offense instead of being the aggressor.
