Did anyone notice the playclock...

Lol

Watch the video I just posted. 3 seconds is an eternity on the play clock and that's at least how long it would take to correct an incorrect playcall. That's straight from Cam too, not some speculation.

I'm fully aware that came from his mouth. I laughed when he said it and laughed when you repeated it. Grasping.

Anyone else remember the press conference late in the season last year where Cam was describing how everyone was in the huddle on offense and he said that Olsen often has to correct him about what the playcall is actually supposed to be? I took note of it then and thought it might be a little worrying but didn't think too much of it because everything on offense was going so well. Well, I'm starting to wonder if that's actually the problem when everybody is bitching that Shula can't get the playcall in on time. Maybe Cam has to be corrected a lot because he doesn't properly output the playcall that is being input from the headset. The NFL does shut off the helmet radios with 15 seconds left on the play clock so the play has to be in by that point.

Well if that's the case then Cam wouldn't be screaming at the coach he would be mad at himself for not getting the play called out...that just means they correct him, but there is still enough time for that..if all you get is 15secs then they may be getting only 1 play in time without options ...or maybe the verbiage is too long.

Key audio is at 1:30.

"Half the time when I'm saying the play, I'm wrong and those guys, they fix it. It's like my autocorrect."

Tell me that looking back on that, that doesn't worry you with all the trouble we've been having getting plays off this year.

Looking back this, one thing that does stand out

Chemistry

Something I think that's been lost so far

The elephant is the room is that the microphone cuts off at 15 seconds so the play had to be called in before that.  So if Cam is getting the play with 20 seconds left, why is he running out of time???  And Anderson seemed to get them up to the line with plenty of time.  So what gives????

It doesn't take a genius to figure that out, DUH...

That said, Anderson runs a simpler offense. Cam operates an Air Coryell offense infused with the Read Option. Yeah, it does make a difference. The Air Coryell is notorious for being very complicated.

Anderson doesn't make a last second decision to either run it himself or hand it off to a RB or toss the ball 25 yards down the field.

So now you just make things up.  It has been said multiple times that with the exception of the read option Play (not playbook), they run the whole gamet of plays for both Anderson and Cam.  The offense is the the same.  On the read option Cam doesnt ever throw from it for several reasons I can enumerate if you dont know.  He either runs or hands sit off.  On a play action pass the action is the same.  So no you are wrong and can stop the ridiculous excuses.  It just makes your constant defense of him more ludicrous.

Shula won't do it. He doesn't like change.

Having a consistent system is why Cam had so great a year last year.  Change for quarterbacks is often bad news. Truth is Shula changed the whole running game after KB went down in 2015.  I love how people make stuff up when the truth is completely different.

I love my QB. Hell I even named my son Cam....but maybe if these playcalls were simplified a little, and give Cam the option to audible given what's he see from the D.

Cam has been in the same system for 5 years.  He knows the playbook and is supposed to audiblize into the best option based on what he sees from the defense.  And the truth is he did it very well last year.  The offense is the same.  For some reason, Cam is not.....

Shut up already.

Last year was last year. When Denver exposed Shula/this offense, things should have been changed. Cam is still not getting plays in on time and has been seen early in the season yelling at coaches about it. It's a little of him and a little of Shula. It's okay to admit that Shula shares some blame. What we did last year obviously isn't working this year. If Shula were good, he would've switched things up. Cams game has to evolve and won't under Shula. Last year is dead and gone. Not winning us games.
