I wasn't able to watch the game tonight but even going into it I wasn't optimistic.  Let's be real, without Cam and Stewie we were going to have problems...then throw in the clusterfug going on in our secondary then I'm far from shocked we lost.

Personally I don't think Shula is the problem.  Are there better coordinators?  Yeah...but the one's I'd replace him with already have jobs.

Again, I have to be up front, Rivera was not my favorite choice for head coach. I got on board last year but never really let go of my old doubts.

All that said, the problems might be a step higher than Shula.

Gonna quote my own post to say you really don't ever know if a locker room is lost.  Mother fugers just start losing their jobs.  Look at B-More.  Harbaugh knows he's on the hotseat.

Zod thought Rivera was losing the locker room two years ago before the season turned around.

Let's just say I hope we are in the same position after 16, but something tells me ATL isn't gonna go winless from here on out and what the rest of the division is doing plays a big part in who gets shitcanned.  Especially when you are coming off 17-2 and your GM seems more than confident in the fact that you got the personnel to get poo done.

He's had his issues for sure but I think we owe it to him to give him a chance to work his way out of this hole.  Who's the last coach to bring us back to back division titles?  Let alone 3.

I'd agree, but I confess Rivera wasn't my choice up front.

He should start by firing Shula very soon or he is gonna go down with the sinking ship.  I love Ron, but if he doesn't get proactive, then he is gonna make it hard for himself to find the kind work he wants after Caroilna if this ship keeps sinking.  Being a HC doesn't mean you are the top XOs guy.

Everybody wants to fire Shula like there are tons of grade A coordinators out there just jumping at the chance to come here.

He gets 2013 division win. 2014 and 2015 NFCS was weak. Its weak this year too and we're dead last. He hasn't had back to back winning seasons yet so far

I'm not dead set on firing Shula.

That said, I've never been his biggest fan either.

Full confession: I also wasn't Rivera's biggest fan when he was hired (I wanted Mike Zimmer). I jumped on the "riverboat" last year but now my old doubts are creeping back.

I remember we both wanted Zimmer even after Rivera "turned it around" that one season. Zimmer was a clear upgrade and you upgrade when you can but this franchise is a losing franchise because of decisions like that. We don't fire people who deserve to be fired we get rid of and fire people who don't deserve to be fired...and we don't make tough decisions like replacing a decent coach(Rivera) with a great and very smart coach(Zimmer).

Get what ya get and Gman plays tough with players he needs and keeps a coaching staff he absolutely doesn't need....he's to blame too because he could get rid of people if he wanted to damn the feelings. Seriously fug Rivera and his toes if I'm Gman I say it's either him or him AND you so let me know who we are promoting to OC or I need to find a new HC.

There are a couple of things working against that, though.

Obviously, last season weighs heavily on Rivera's future.

And two, Gettleman has not been shown to be a guy who fires staff, even if maybe he should.

To that, add the fact that Gettleman and Rivera have by all accounts a great working relationship.

I think we would really have to see something pretty drastic happen to make it come to that.
