Question Regarding Rules

This isn't necessarily a Panther's related question but it very well could be considering Cam has gone for tackles on interceptions before. I'm currently watching the Green Bay vs. Giants game and a penalty call has me confused. Rogers threw an interception and then went for a tackle  but was blocked to the ground by a Giants player. The refs threw a flag on this and called it an unsportsmanlike like penalty for the hit on the QB. I thought that if the QB threw an interception and then subsequently went for a tackle it was fine to block them or am I just remembering the rule incorrectly. What do you guys think on this penalty?

The way I view it is that since he went for the tackle then a flag shouldn't have been thrown but had he not have made an attempt then a flag could since he would be "protecting himself by removing himself from the play" but oh well. The refs in general have been terrible, even more so than usual, this season in the majority of the games.

That was how I thought it went. Stay away, and we will protect you. Get in the way, your are on your own.

I didn't see the play, but, was the block excessive? Did he hit him above the shoulders? Aw hellz, those QBs are all wusses. Except for ours  that is.

Not excessive from what I could tell. I can't find a video of it so if anybody finds one or has it can post it to have a reference then I'd appreciate it. If I recall it correctly it looked like he blocked Rodgers legally and made him stumble slightly then bumped him again to knock him down. It looked like a legit and legal block from what I could tell but they only replayed it once.

That is one of those things that frosts my butt. The rules are different from player to player, and team to team. The refs are an issue that truly does need to be addressed.

Collinsworth said that since the QB was going towards the play, he was fair game. Should not have been called.

There you go. Rogers gets that call, Brady gets that call, (Although Brady probably would never get involved in a tackle.) but does every QB get that call? Probably not?
