With the Bye Week and the Trade Deadline Looming

The Panthers next two opponents are two of the weaker teams they will face this season in Tampa Bay and New Orleans. Obviously they've just made moves at the DB core that if you were facing say Seattle would most likely mean an ugly loss. Do the minds inside BofA feel these two games are winnable while the talent at DB (and LT) is evaluated the next 2 weeks? Then we go to the Bye October 16 and two weeks later the Trade Deadline strikes midnight on Nov 1.

Perhaps the Panthers will make a potential trade move following the Saint Game on the 16th and have two weeks to integrate any new players into the system before we play the Cardinals October 30.

Cant have a "true evaluation"  if your playing 2 of the lessar teams. The results would be skewed due to weak opponent talent, they should make a trade deal soon and integrate the players now.

Mike Evans is a beast at receiver, Cooks aint shabby either and Drew Brees can still light up any defense he faces (see what happened to us last year in the dome).  Our DB's will get a good look at top level talent.  Seriously, ball is in their court, it's up to them to decide whether or not they want to be something in the NFL or if they want to go the way of Bene Benwikere.

You may not get a "true evaluation", but you CAN get a good idea of what you have. If a guy does well, you can at least think "Maybe we have something here?" Or if they play badly, you can say, "Well, maybe we need to make a change?" It may not be scientific. But it can be an indicator.

Where it comes to trades. I am not sure what we can offer? I know Gman hates to give up draft picks, and I don't believe he would willingly give up a player he likes. Which would make making a trade seem unlikely.

AW HELLZ. Who knows? Maybe Gman is willing to give it a go? The right deal, for the right player, may be a possibility. I just would not bet my home on it.

I have been saying since the off-season that we have a lot of kids that Gman and Ron like. This very well could be an evaluation year. We have to find out what we really have. Then we can focus on our issues this off-season. And go at it strong for next year. I just did not expect this year to play out the way it has. And I am sure Gman, and Ron feel the same way.

Yeah DB core is going to get a heck of a work out if not this week then next. Nobody is going to be able to hide going into the Bye.

???

I'm sorry, if that's their thinking, I just don't get it.

Having just gone to the Super Bowl, dominating the NFC, and having quite a few key core players / stars who are on the wrong side of 30 (TD, Greg, Kalil, Ginn, CJ.... and Stew not far behind at 29), we should be thinking THIS IS OUR TIME, SEIZE THE MOMENT.

I know Gettleman wants to build for the long term and says he doesn't believe in windows.  I respect that.  But sometimes you DO have a window and need to take advantage of it.

The cliche is true. One of the things NFL means is "not for long" - already we're finding it true.  We're struggling to get a winning season going after flying high last year.  Consistent winning is the holy grail.

I hope DG, Ron & Cam can get us there.  I thought they would.  Now I'm less certain.  But a few good wins will help restore my confidence...

If they truly didn't think this year was the time to go all in im worried they are never going to see the right time. Honestly it seems to me that most of the SB winners the past few years have had key FA acquisitions. If DG refuses to pull that trigger EVER I feel we are just handicapping ourselves.

You know it's bad when this lady has lost faith.

Back on topic.  Moves will not be made.  Status quo is fine.  Not going all in after a Super Bowl is good because "Gettlemen is BAE." And the fan base can continue to wait for a Super Bowl.  Come on guys!  The future is more important than winning one!  Duh!!!!!!!!

Gettlemen is BAE!!!!!

Now, in my defense, I did make other points.

we are going to be building long term until Gmans long term is over.I really love the comment that Gman doesnt like to give up draft picks...lol... that would be better than wasting them every year in the draft.

    • Of the options you listed a trade back most entices me particularly if we stay in the top 15. However if you made me pick I'd take Jalon Walker
