This read option business is one thing for a team that can't do anything else or a QB that can't do anything else and said QB is 21 not going on 28

fine to do it once in awhile but it would better if Newton is going to run, to have blockers in front of him.

it would be great if he could learn to roll and throw as well

something just needs to be changed up in the Panthers mind set, and sometimes lining up and plowing forward does the trick

no one is going to come rescue them but the open season on Newton's head caused either by himself, the play calls, or poor oline play needs to stop. So does their woe is me attitude and the longer that offense holds the ball the less we see of that defense, and that, is not a bad thing.

Seeing that CAP doesn't even understand the read option was pretty alarming.

I just want to believe that it's because he hasn't had much time doing it. Stew and Cam do this flawlessly. There was that play in he Atlanta game and I remember saying why is he not letting go of the ball lol.

I want Shula to expand. Cam is so athletic and he's talented. Play some good old fashion football with this man. But this would require Shula to change. He doesn't want to.

I don't think he caused the open season on his head. Denver laid the blueprint. You can't stop him unless you are taking his head out. Because while this same scrub line pretty much protected him last year, we really didn't have a true "test." Then came big bad Denver. And teams saw it. It sucks. But I definitely agree with you that their woe is me attitude has to end. At this point if we're gonna get penalities, might as well be worthwhile. The o-line is gonna have to start not taking poo from anyone.

It's not just CAP.  Tolbert collided with Cam on a few of those as well.  Makes me wonder if even Stew would have made a difference on Sunday...

So does a healthy, focused Cam make this play? I don't think I've seen that go bad so many times. Or is it timing? Mechanics?

It's not really been an issue before.  I can't recall ever seeing them run into each other, unless the play was blown up from the snap.  It's really weird... and concerning.

I'm not against dropping the RO at all.  I'd like to see us run an offense similar to what Pittsburgh runs.  I think we have the personnel, and we could be just as effective as an offense, as we were last year.
