Now, Funchess hasn't be good but he hasn't be bad. When he's on the field you know it because he gets looks, but that's when he's on the field. The coaching staff still trots Ginn out there more often than not so they keep the speed dynamic. Then they play Philly in the slot because he has the speed and quickness to play the slot the way they want him to. They are in no rush to put him on there for more snaps. Why? Tough to say but he has plenty of room for improvement but he's on the right track. Not everyone can come in and be a beast on day 1. I wish they would so the typical lynch mob butt hurt fans could find something more interesting to do with their time.

No one is playing good right now. Well except for Kuechly and TD.

I've wondered why Funchess hasn't been on the field more during his time in Carolina.  I could understand if he were an undrafted free agent like Philly Brown or a low round draft choice. We traded up to get him in the 2nd round two years ago. Gettleman thought he was a steal at the time because he had a 1st round grade on him.

I think his draft position and what we gave up to grab him there should make putting him on the field a major priority. I can't help but think he would improve if he was promoted to the #2 WR, or at least used as the fulltime slot receiver.

You would think he would get on the field more but for some reason this coaching staff is absolutely in love with Ted Ginn. It is my opinion that you don't get better unless you play and they are stunting him by making him wait on the sidelines.

Ted Ginn is dangerous but at the same time it's 50/50 if he's going to catch the ball. I'd rather put someone on the field that could do the same but grow in experience.

How anyone can label Funchess as a bust, or sarcastically suggest that he isn't legit at this point, based on what we've seen (or not) to this point in the season, is just beyond me.  He showed some talent yesterday, notwithstanding suspect play calling and suspect play by the line and unfortunately Cam.

The kid hasn't even had a real opportunity to get going yet because of the team's disjointed offensive product.

Honestly, I think a case could be made in both ways.  He had 111 Passer rating vs SF, 350 yards, 4 tds and 1 int and against Minn he was like 7-7 with a TD against minn before the injury then absolutely fell apart.  I think it was Voth that pointed out this play, and the more I think about it, the more it makes sense.  He doesn't look right running now and his footwork is worse than usual which both of those could be attributed to an ankle injury.  His concussion could be a blessing in disguise because of the kind of competitive streak he has, it could FORCE cam to sit out and get really healthy.

He may have had some lingering effects but I do think he was concussed in that Denver game. You're right about the ankle. So yes, I'd agree that this may be a blessing in disguise because it forces him to sit down and heal. Love and admire his toughness.

One thing I can't for the life of me understand is how last year with no talent Shula was able to design plays that allowed people to get open and make plays but this year with KB back he can't design a play to save his life. Seriously it isn't rocket science, have KB run slants all game long, if Cam can be even remotely accurate it is a guaranteed 7-8 yards a play.  I mean look at the td pass, KB is basically triple covered and it looked easy.

Me too man.  The Vitriol from our own fans pointed at him right now is kind of frustrating.  Dude is as tough as they come, but even superman has his kryponite, gotta let him heal so he can save our season.

I will always defend him. You can question his attitude and him being a sore loser but you can not, with a straight face, question his heart. I think some of his forced plays and bad decisions have a lot to do with him trying to make something happen, even when there's nothing there. He's a tough as they come. There are plays he gets up and you can tell he's either seeing stars or in pain and he plays through it.

Funchess is playing to the level of the team right now. If the Panthers start playing on all cylinders I think we will see how much he has improved from last season. Might not live up to full Huddle hype but I think he will be on track for a solid second year player trending up.

Funchess had two big pass interference calls go his way, unfortunately one was cancelled out. He actually had a decent game yesterday. Showed a spark

Not saying he didnt, he played real well when he was in.  Seems like hed'd have a good play then theyd pull him out for awhile then hed go back in etc.

Funchess is definitely not worth 3 draft picks.

Production wise, no. He is likely to go off for 100 yards Monday Night if DA is playing. He seems to be the only QB that can get him the ball consistently in ways that maximize Funchess's primary asset; fluid motions.
