When Oher Returns, Do We Start Daryl Williams Over Remmers...?

It's called drafting and developing one , hell if you can turn a UDFA Norwell into Good OG the we can definitely turn a draft pick into a starter. Even a blind squirrel can find a Nut once in awhile.  Look at what saints did with Armstead

Nope, sorry, we grabbed Vernon "Tiny Ankles" Butler in the 1st, 3 CBs and a tight end. Truth be told, drafting a starting Tackle in the NFL is one of the hardest things to do. The bust rate is astounding, to the point where there aren't even 64 guys in the league who are good enough to be starting OTs. Good teams have at least one, and it is rare that a team has two for any length of time. Most teams are "working a guy until we can find our Tackle" and that rarely changes. Neither Oher nor Remmers are of the quality of Jordan Gross. But they are both better than a lot of the guys that teams are trying to make do with.

Heck, I wish Gettleman could make some of those dumpster diamond pick ups any time now. Of course, that's how both Oher and Remmers came to us. Remember? Oher was supposedly done in Tennessee and Remmers had bounced around through the training camps and practice squads of four teams before we snagged him from the Ram's practice team. And they kept Cam upright long enough last year to get us to the Superb Owl. What happened there wasn't pretty, but that's the way it goes sometimes in the championship game.

I know this sounds crazy, but Oher and Remmers would be ok for our team if we had an offensive scheme to suit their skill level.  If we ran a west coast offense or had a playbook with some short pass plays they could hold up just fine when Cam drops back. Unfortunately our routes take too long to develop and our receivers do not consistently get separation. Brady usually gets rid of the ball in under 3 seconds. If Cam could do the same thing I think we'd have a much more efficient offense and I doubt we'd be 1-3 right now.

No offense, but I am so tired of reading about the long developing routes. Yes, that's the system we run. Install a WCO? Sure if you want to trade Cam. His short passes aren't great. We run way more screens and slants that most believe. They just don't work most of the time.

I'm actually not a big fan of the WCO. I'd rather watch teams throw the ball downfield. When we're clicking I think the Panthers are one of the NFL's most exciting teams.  Things is, our offense doesn't work if your O-Line doesn't hold up. When we go up against teams with a good pass rush Cam takes a beating because he doesn't have time to throw and receivers aren't getting open quick enough.

I wouldn't want to see us go to a WCO. But, for this season Shula is going to have to make some adjustments in the passing game. Hopefully next season, we can upgrade 1 (or both) of the OT spots and maybe even pick up a better WR to play opposite KB.

We should hold a public tryout like Dick Vermeil did with the Eagles back in the day.  I'll try out for LT.  Which eventually would lead to me getting a Disney movie.

damn straight, and tell them. You make all this money and can't do your job ? I'll find somebody that can do the job by god. Your job is now under review light a fire under their asses

Im ready to label Funchess a bust. Him and Ealy are both huge 2nd round disappointments.

I'm just ready for people to get off Gettlemen's jock.  Look at his top 4 picks the last 2 years.

2016

1st round - DT destined to be depth until something happens with studs just drafted prior drafts

2nd round - CB - need pick due to last minute handling of Norman

3rd round - CB - see above

4th round - CB see above

2015

1st round - LB destined to be depth until something happens to Davis

2nd round - WR - shows Gettlemen's fixation on big and has been spotty

3rd - OT - disappointment to date

4th - LB - more depth

lots of time for things to play out but we IMO are seeing the effects of his last 2 drafts.  Draft picks have to help you out fairly quick in today's salary cap driven league.   Last 2 drafts don't set us up to get a lot in 2016.
