Cam Newton is playing the worst ball of his career this year. He's been garbage.

Can Cam do better?  Yeah.  But there's a whole lot of players that can do better too.  But it starts with Cam.  Our O-line is a mess right now and that's not Cam's fault.  But he can mitigate some of that by taking some of the shorter throws even though that's not his strong suit.  I honestly don't know if he's not reading the defenses right or if he just can't process things fast enough to get to his check downs but he needs to do something.

That said, this ain't all on Cam.  We need to do better in virtually every phase of the game.  Simply put, we're just not very good right now.

I am wondering if Cam Newton was Andrew Luck would we get moronic posts like this? Hell, Ryan Tannehill doesn't even get posts like this on the Dolphins' board.

So you want to bench our MVP QB to see if he is the problem? And only if Anderson struggles that would convince you?

Panthers fans like you 10000000000000% does not deserve to even watch Newton warm up.

I not only watch him warm but attends all his games and have his jersey which I wear to his games.  Benching him in light of him being in concussion protocol not only makes sense for his safety but is mandated by the league.  Plus at this point he does appear a far cry from last year when he was the MVP.  Right now his performances arent even good yet alone the best in the league. He seems tentative, reverting back to his old habits of holding the ball and not going through his reads.  He missed several wide open receivers yesterday and I think the pounding he is taking is making him see ghosts in addition to the poor O line play he is putting up with.

If people like you would stop living in the past and overreacting to everyone who is discussing what is happening now instead of last year, you might see that sometimes allowing him to take a week off and get fully healthy is much better than allowing him to take even more if eating when clearly something is significant wrong at this point with him.

The entire team is hot garbage at the moment, not just Cam.  Something is seriously wrong with this team and it starts at the top.  We have serious issues with the coaching, players and possibly even the GM if he can't get the issue identified and addressed.  The Don needs to chew some coaches asses this morning starting with Ron.   Rivera has gone soft on these guys and is letting play the victim of the big bad NFL.  If the league is truly trying to stifle this team then it's time to nut up and play through it.  They have the talent but not the mindset to overcome a little adversity when things get tough.

My bad.  I concur

We are all pretty upset

it is just disturbing that people who are paid to make these decisions thought what was done was enough

you don't let an all pro walk and replace him with someone from Samford. Not in our division

you don't believe that these OTs are good enough

you don't ignore the injury history of your running back

there is so much more

they are too old at young positions and too young at positions that require veteran leadership

i sure hope drafting Butler in the first round and wasting 3 draft choices was worth it

Let's see what Anderson can do. He clearly doesn't have the physical abilities of Cam and is clearly not a long term answer but if he looks good and we can win next week it gives Cam time to sit and watch someone else run the offense and reflect on what he can change when he does go back in. If we suck with Anderson then it proves that we have much bigger problems than QB..

But shula can do no wrong. Ron can do no wrong. John Fox can do no wrong

Like I said, if Anderson sucks and his judgement at times last night was poor, it means we have bigger problems than at quarterback.  And that is clear.  But I still think that it more on the players than anyone else.  They once again self destructed with 4 turnovers and caused none.  You dont win games that way no matter who the coaches are.

So you're defending the coaching then?

I had some problems with playcalling especially 3 straight runs on our last drive (and I use that liberally) when our passing was very effective.  I also think that Ron should have gone for it on 4th down instead of punting.  And the whole time outs which aided them at the end was stupid. Then again if we hadnt let them convert so many third downs on that drive and others, it wouldnt have bit us in the butt.

Truth is if Anderson doesnt fumble and then throw a pick on successive drives we score on one if not both and we win.  So which is the bigger problem?  I think the poor execution was a much bigger issue which amplified the coaching issues.

Leave Panthers55 alone. He's clearly a family member of Shula's.

What I clearly am is a huddler who doest have a clear anti shula agenda like you.  I didnt like some of his playcalling and said so above.  The difference between us is that I can  see things objectively and dont just look for things that justify my preheld opinions unlike you.  Truth is we had 400 yards with a back up quarterback and remade line and no running game to boot.  If we dont miss one field goal and throw a pick to negate another at least 3 points we score 20 if not 24.  Honestly that should have been enough to win this game. As much as you want to believe it, playcalling was not the problem, once again execution was.   How many teams still win when they lose the turnover battle 4-0.
