Confirmed: Cam Newton has a concussion.

ITA. I was wondering how long can a concussion/side effects linger. He's probably been dealing with this since week one. Nobody pressed the issue until today. But the o-line and his coaches should feel proud.

I said in the other thread, and I'll say it here...  I think he came into the season banged up with a shoulder/arm injury that has had some lingering nerve issues.  Remember him flexing his hand and fingers a couple of weeks ago while grimacing?  Then the season opener, the NFL and our OL decided to work together in letting Cam get the poo beat out of him and I suspect he suffered a concussion then among other injuries.  Combine those issues with the lack of protection, and I think it has manifested itself in his play thus far.

I'm just so disappointed and frustrated with the lack of urgency from our team to protect him both with personnel and schematically.

You have to ask if 2014 and 2016 are Gettleman, and 2015 was just a fluke. I am starting to wonder if Gettleman just lucked into that 2015 secondary and thought it was just average since the system was the big reason for the DBs success.

Yeah but when would he have injured himself? There was a preseason game I think where he had to come out. Was that related? Unless it's an injury from the super bowl that has nagged him.

That, I have no idea.  It could just be an "overuse injury," but he has appeared to favor his throwing arm since early in the preseason.

I want him 100% healthy. He's the type of player to not say when he's hurting which sucks.

The saddest thing to me is obviously the state of Cam's health.

The next saddest thing to me is the amount of his "fans" that are utterly thrilled this happened because he "deserved" it.

Last year Luke missed 3 games in the concussion protocol.

I guess all people are different and its not a cookie-cutter diagnosis, but I expect that to be close to what we'll see.
