No I didn't. I didn't know about it until someone else posted about it.  Apparently there was a TV show back in the day too.

Is it good?

Futureworld isn't as good or as original as Westworld was, but it's decent and worth a watch. The series was meh.

Side Note: On the topic of originality, I've long felt James Cameron at least partially ripped off Westworld with The Terminator. The Gunslinger was the original Terminator.

I actually think most AI/robot movies after Westworld copied it in a way.   It's really important in film history.

I don't think Maeve has achieved full sentience (completed the maze) because her coming back to the park (getting off the train) was written into her story (as alluded to by Bernard when she grabs the computer and smashes indignantly saying that her decisions are her own....which they aren't).

I don't see why people would pay $40K per day to go to downtown Detroit or Chicago. If you can now die then it seems like a place rich people will avoid. But they show producers said basically season 2 will be about the chaos that Anthony Hopkins has unleashed. He said it took him 35 years to realize the same thing that Arnold did....that the hosts are alive. His new narrative is one of freedom for the hosts (that have completed the maze). The MiB/William was definitely happy to see it even though he got shot in the arm.

I could see them starting season 2 in SamuraiWorld (SW emblem on the walls in samurai area) and then the events of season 1 catching up and spilling over to the other parks. I guess I can't really see where the show is going. Why would anyone pay to go there anymore? Loved the show though. Could've stood alone as just 1 season. I am curious to see how they do season 2 though.

Maeve is alive now.  Her choosing to go back into the park proves this.   The scene where the tech guy explains she's been programmed to do all this, shows right there on the tablet "Mainland infiltration" as the narrative she was programmed for.   Ford wants her to go out into the world, but she, on her own, chose to go back because of the daughter.     The only reason hosts became fully aware, is because of "suffering", the fourth piece on the pyramid that Arnold figured out (which is also alluded to in an earlier scene with Ford and Bernard on a chalk board).   The maze isn't an actual maze, so she DID complete it with the suffering.  The suffering of losing a child is what made her aware (when William kills the daughter and realizes this himself).

In season 2, I think we can expect Dolores to actually be a sort of bad guy in the park that maybe Maeve or Bernard have to contend with.   The robots will be running the show (William will probably be hanging around) at this point.

I didn't see the Mainland Infiltration thing but Arnold did allude to the idea that she was programmed to choose to come back. But I get what you're saying and agree. The problem with the whole thing though is why would people pay to go to the park anymore?

We'll have to see.   Maybe they replace all the board members and everyone else.   The original accident at the park was covered up too 30 years before, albeit on a much smaller scale.   Even though the show producers said "That was a real Ford" at the end, I can't help wondering if he transferred his consciousness into a host, maybe that one we seen him creating in his secret lab.   He did allude to "living on" when referring musical works from people on the speech.

Here is a image of the infiltration thingy:

Warning***kinda Spoiler alerty** for the movie Vice?!? Wth

I was startled awake to the movie Vice, with Bruce Willis(on HBO currently) bc I was hearing dialouge and scenes about a resort with androids that are becoming sentient...I thought what episode is THIS?!?

Then I watched about an hour of a Sci-fi quality-B grade movie of poor acting and awful dialouge....however, it seems to be wholly inspired by the old Westworld movie and has sort of a ton of potential plot spoilers for Westworld as there is a "board" who is developing the andriods for law enforcement and military purposes.  A love story..etc..and came out in 2015?

A curious watch for maybe Westworld nerds but it is awful.

FWIW I gave Westworld several good tries and just couldn't get into the hype. I literally fell asleep multiple times at different points of different episodes. I think I made it to episode 5 (haven't finished it yet) but I don't know if I can keep watching.

I get what you are saying because I couldn't get into it much either in the beginning but since you made it that far, I recommend you keep watching. I found it much more interesting after about episode 5 or 6 and was glad I stuck with it.

    • Steal of the century with Nolen at 57. It didn't stop there either. I know you cannot fill all the needs/wants, WR was just never in the cards. Since it felt fantasy I drafted a Clemson player.... I feel less than 2% chance walker makes it to 8th, he along with jenty are the start of tier 2.  I'd trade yosh for future late rounder since Emery Jones is the RT of the future. Or wait until TC injuries hit OT, yosh should have a little trade value.  2026 this draft could yield 5-7 starters if the lotto is real.....
    • Ny Times           Jaylin Walker to Raiders   8. Carolina Panthers: Mykel Williams, edge, Georgia The second Georgia player to go in the top 10, Williams was injured in the 2024 opener against Clemson and didn’t get to play much in the first half of last season. But he was back for a big game at Texas in October and gave UT fits, notching two sacks. He had two more sacks against the Longhorns in the SEC title game. The 6-5, 260-pounder has 34 1/2-inch arms with potential that makes D-line coaches giddy. “He was banged up a lot this year, but when he was close to 100 percent, he’s super twitchy,” an SEC tight ends coach said. “He’s a freak.” He’ll boost a Carolina team that had the worst pass rush in the league. “He’s more of the traditional defensive end guy than Walker,” said an SEC O-line coach who was really impressed by both Georgia players. “He can either be that 3-4 outside linebacker or 4-3 end. He has real pass rush ability. I think he’s an elite edge rusher. He’s great chasing from behind, and he can play the run well enough.”   ESPN Rd 1 8. Carolina Panthers Jalon Walker, Edge/LB, Georgia The Panthers have made a series of edge rusher investments over the past two years, but none has massively moved the needle. The Panthers -- who allowed the most yards per play (6.0) and tied for the third-fewest sacks (32) last season -- could truly address their need in the top 10, though. Walker had 6.5 sacks in 2024 even though he spent a lot of his time patrolling the middle of the field at off-ball linebacker. Carolina could deploy Walker in a hybrid role since it needs a boost at both linebacker and edge rusher.   rd 2  57. Carolina Panthers (via LAR) Jaylin Noel, WR, Iowa State At 5-foot-10 and 194 pounds, Noel might be a better fit in the slot than outside. But he has serious explosion, averaging 14.9 yards per catch last season en route to 1,194 yards and eight scores. Noel could join Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker to form an intriguing young WR corps.   NFL.COM. IDEAL FIRST 2 picks Round 1: No. 8 overall: Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State Round 2: No. 57 overall: Kevin Winston Jr. S, Penn State The Panthers might have bigger needs on their roster than at tight end, but they are unlikely to find a more impactful player on offense than Warren. His presence as a safety valve and red-zone threat would aid Bryce Young's progression as a third-year starter. In this scenario, they take Winston -- a rangy, secure tackler -- to play beside free-agent pick-up Tre'von Moehrig. By taking two prospects from the same school with their first two picks, they follow the lead of the Rams (who actually traded Carolina this year's 57th overall pick as part of the process of pairing Jared Verse and Braden Fiske of Florida State) and Jaguars (who took Brian Thomas Jr. and Maason Smith out of LSU) last year.
