Can anyone answer the question of why we have three tight ends on a team that doesn't utilize the tight end much except for blocking?

No, other than Fox, the one word answer.

The ugly side of that is, why does Jake get hassled so much, sacked, hurried, fumble, etc.....if we have them on the team. If for nothing else, for extra blockers, but it doesn't seem to occur to them to use them that way, if not for catching passes. WTF?

Oh well......

We run a lot of two tight end sets, and also line up our tight ends at the fullback position at times. We don't throw to them a ton, but the tight end is an important piece of the offense anyway.

I see how that works now!!! WOW !:cornut:

I never said that, you're obviously putting words in my mouth.

This is why I can't understand the Rosario/Barnidge thing. Rosario can't block, but he catches well enough to get a lot of PT. Barnidge can block and supposedly has great hands. Why isn't he playing?

It was nice to see the TE being used more effectively in the last game. Each of the tight ends can catch, and they have varying abilities as blockers.

But a tight end is a specialized weapon. They are more effective against certain types of defenses, particularly zone heavy ones.

I'd like to see us use them more, but we haven't exactly seen the re-emergence of Wesley Walls yet. But there is hope...

I agree TE position is important, no matter which way you choose to use it.....but where is the blocking when Jake is getting creamed?

That's the point, it's why I don't understand the Rosario thing. Poor blocking kept Williams behind Foster for two years, but Rosario gets a pass on it when there's a more capable guy on the roster right behind him.

I'm sure there's a good reason for it, but it's beyond me.

Yeah....me too CJ. Fox's legend will long live with this type of bullsh1t, instead of something worth remembering, sadly.

Electro is obviously still struggling with his impulse management skills.

Rosario missed a block Sunday that resulted in negative yardage on a play. In our offense it's more important that a tight end block well than catch the ball.

I want to know why Barnidge isn't a bigger part of the offense right now. There was a lot of hype surrounding him in camp.

yep..him and goodson were being used a lot in preseason.but nothing from them now.
