The Trade nobody wants to talk about suggested by Jason La Confora: Joe Thomas to us for a 1st rounder.

I find it hilarious that people are making fun of anyone that suggests we trade a 1st rounder for Joe Thomas. If DG could find a way to protect Cam that alone has more value than whoever DG drafts next year. Even if Thomas only has 3 years left in him.

This organization needs to be realistic about our window of opportunity. Cam can't keep taking these beatings and given DG's draft history I don't see how giving up a 1st for Cam's well being is a bad idea. I'd bet everyone here would be pretty excited if we drafted a real good LT prospect in the 1st round in next years draft.

With the proper protection Cam can go back to making everyone from the front office and coaching staff appear like geniuses as they continue to short change him on the offensive side of the ball.

This is how that window stays short.  You build through the draft.   I would love to see Thomas on the Panthers and would drop a third on Thomas in a second but you are risking a whole lot.

Gettleman has to look at the future as well as the present.  Those that want to give up a first aren't looking forward.

Well, we need to win a Super Bowl while the window is still open.

As DG always says and is right.  You are never ONE PLAYER AWAY.

You start giving up your #1 picks and then you start losing out on better talent.   Had he been at the end of his rookie contract.  Yeah but 31?  You get one, two maybe 3 good years out of him.   Not worth the risk.  Obviously, most GMs agree or he would have already been picked up.

Cleveland is trying to get the upper hand.   I don't think they'll get it.

I would do a 2nd rounder. But the 1st round has been good to us in recent years. We gotta keep it.

Especially NOW... I mean, we're 1-3. Panthers are not exactly juggernauts. If we miss the playoffs, that's gonna be a mid-1st pick.

Plus we aren't really in position to gamble like that. If we could guarantee it would get us to 11-5 or 12-4 then hell I'm all in for Joe Thomas but that just isn't the case. It is highly unlikely this teams entire Achilles heel right now is left tackle. Are we having a difficult time protecting Cam? Yes, but as a WHOLE  you gotta look at the other problems on the team. If we're going to trade for anyone it should be Joe haden or somebody to shut down Julio Jones. He is the reason why we got our asses beat today, and not just that but we got zero pass rush on Matt Ryan. There's more than one problem and it can't be fixed right away. Guys are just gonna have to step it up and play better. That isn't going to happen until after the bye. You got two weeks to get better than you've played. Does a move need to be made? Absolutely, but the question is what trade do we execute for the right price?

You can be one player away in sports.

Any trades that would be offered would rape this team.  No team is going to offer a decent player in trade for a fair price at this stage of the season.  We have what we have so get use to it.  It's going to be a long season as long as this team is in the funk they are in now.

Now is not the time to go fool and trade for everybody.  New players to the team need time to adjust to their situation.  If we brought in a Joe Thomas now, who's to say he would even want to be a Panther?  It's not like our team is 4-0. (For instance, Jared Allen wanted to come to Carolina last year because of the location and the fact we were undefeated with a chance at a Superbowl)  Joe Thomas would also have to learn our playbook very quickly and doing it while playing the game.  No, you need to do this kind of work in the offseason.

Here's the truth people, we probably won't have a good season this year.  We might make a late run at the playoffs, but we won't be winning it all because of the dumbest move in recent memory in letting Norman walk.  It messed up our chemistry from the jump and we are seeing the full effects of it.  Wait till the offseason before we make any moves.
