Is Peppers burning his bridges?

whenever someone says peppers can't do it by himself because he has no one else is a stupid babby child who can't look at an apple and see an apple and should probably stop debasing themselves apologizing for a player who doesn't give a poo any more about football and hasn't for a few years

oh also has a disease that will kill him in five to six but whatev

I have said you can't expect consistant production from one man with no help. The DL is complete crap outside Peppers.....you won't get consistant play b/c he has no make his own plays and rarely doesn't anyone create an opportunity for him....which does occur for 95% of the best DEs in the game. The crap DL limits how great a guy like can be and it also won't allow him to be consistant with the big plays.

Allen season in 07 was very compariable to Pep's last year. Allen was NOT creating plays each and every week.

All i know is Thomas Davis' contract is up after this season, and if we have to choose between them, Davis had better be the one we keep. He is working his butt off while Peppers is taking naps.

maybe we should let Beason go to then.

After 2006? This was not the case, 4.5 sacks is not dominating for a DE, he struggled early on. Bush came in and helped the Saints go 10-6. Since then, his injuries, nonrushing factors and the fantastic play of Williams makes your statement now true.

This is getting off topic of the OP tho.

Yep.

I think Peppers realizes that the FO is catching absolute hell for spending 14% of the salary cap on him and that his NC roots isn't helping him a bit in getting public opinion on his side...compounded with his lax gameplay that isn't just being noticed by fans.

While this is true, DE is one of the toughest positions to get consistent play. Teams can set up double or triple team blockers or work with quick passes. But unfortunately, the past couple seasons, Pep has been handled one on one way too often, and a couple times by back ups and rookies.

Peppers is going through the motions this season.

He's franchised and gets paid

So why give any above and beyond effort for a team you don't want to be on .

Show up collect paycheck,2010 is just 3 months away .

Peppers was awesome week 1. How come nobody complains about Beason just "going through the motions". Beason has put in less quality quarters of play so far than Peppers.

i said this in another peppers thread. when did players starting giving themselves contracts? The money he makes is not relevant to him. the FO gave him that money. if you want to blame anyone blame them.

by your guys expectations, jon beason dissapeared! he only had 4 tackles the first game and 6 tackles this last game. Where was the "heart" of the defense? How does thomas davis have more tackles than our probowl MLB?

I believe it is crucial that we don't repeat mistakes over again and we got to get our game on order to have a good season ahead. Sounds like Fox is trying to have our players see where they are weak or strong in the games we are loosing. Sure hope the long film session works for us Monday night. Beat those Cowboys on Monday night and people will know we are still in this season.

You don't think he might be becoming a Kris Jenkins in the locker room?

Hell no, Kris was outspoken. Pep quiet

Soon enough the relationship he had with people was falling. Stayed missing offseason workouts and wasn't at the weight the team wanted him to be. He started to become a problem and I'm glad we got rid of him

Him not talking to reporters doesn't mean sh#t,it's the fact that he isn't playing at 100%,he's only going through the motions,it's obvious he doesn't want to be w/the Panthers and it shows!I'm sure the other players are noticing his laxadazical attitude and it is probably starting to rub off on them!I blame Hurney,Fox and the coaching staff for not addressing the problems w/the D-line in the offseason and not really someway trying to solve the JP fiasco!I blame the defense for their pis poor play against the Falcons,if they at least gave as much effort as the offense the Panthers would have won and be at 1-1!I'm expecting them to come out and fight the 1st quarter against Dallas but after that, the defense will probably fizzle out and get bulldozed and picked apart like chumps, the Panthers will be 0-3 and lost and confused about how to right the ship and there might even be a muntiny brewing from w/in!Your welcome for the pep talk!

hell yeah it shows. same with Beason...could it be any more obvious? Peppers is outplaying him.....clearly Pep needs to teach him the fine art of how to make it less obvious.

    • If there's another QB that came to the combine after packing on 15 lbs of water weight to hide his playing weight, I don't remember it.  I understand it's all part of the pre-draft game, and he participated. The FO was stupid and ignored huge red flags.  On a side note though, I was at the airport a few weeks ago and saw a basketball team going through and decided to try and look through them. I'm 6'2 and these guys were 6'6 and up. I was amazed by how much I couldn't see around them. And these guys weren't 300 plus in pads. I still think he's having a hell of a time seeing the field at the NFL speed.
    • There is merit to the points you're making here. On the flip side one could argue it took us investing 150 million in the oline for him to have a breakout season. And he has still yet to hit 1k rushing yards in a season. As far as Brooks goes the position does not require that significant of a draft investment for many other teams. That's not being negative it's just a matter of fact. The 49ers did quite well with a UDFA running back while McCaffrey was out. It is understandable that some people have concerns. That being said it boils down to whether or not you believe in the player. We just have to see what happens with him and Brooks.
    • Okay, that day in Vegas had to embarrass him completely. Andy showed him how to do the job.  What I think when I go there, why did it take Andy? He has had game after game of watching actual NFL QBs work and that didn't do it?  Anyhow Andy did not mess around, he stood in there and did his job and got rid of the ball ahead of the pressure. Down the field. With the same players Bryce had. Night and day.  If that didn't wake him up nothing ever would. But I don't think he has any sort of top NFL QB in him, he just lacks the full tool kit.
