Urgency intensifies for Panthers' defense

What is amazing is that these players are saying this now. During training camp all they could do was praise it, and how great it was, etc.

NOW.....they don't have a grasp of it yet. Oh...but wait.....training camp broke early, instead of them getting a grasp, of what they say they don't have a grasp of now.

Amazing................

have you noticed that mr peppers stands around with his hands on his hips, so his knees wont get hurt

What? I'm pretty sure athletes put their hands on their hips after plays to help them breathe deeper, it puts less pressure on their lungs. How that would protect their knees I have no idea.

FOX Quote, “There's no question that injuries have been problematic,” coach John Fox said Monday. “They were through preseason and they've continued into the regular season. But it happens to different teams at different times.

As I told the team today, I think we got set back a little bit.”

This sounds more like an enabler justifying poor play than a coach looking for excellence. Any coach that has absolutely ZERO depth on both lines when the season starts has no room to make any excuses when an injury occurs.

    • There is merit to the points you're making here. On the flip side one could argue it took us investing 150 million in the oline for him to have a breakout season. And he has still yet to hit 1k rushing yards in a season. As far as Brooks goes the position does not require that significant of a draft investment for many other teams. That's not being negative it's just a matter of fact. The 49ers did quite well with a UDFA running back while McCaffrey was out. It is understandable that some people have concerns. That being said it boils down to whether or not you believe in the player. We just have to see what happens with him and Brooks.
    • Okay, that day in Vegas had to embarrass him completely. Andy showed him how to do the job.  What I think when I go there, why did it take Andy? He has had game after game of watching actual NFL QBs work and that didn't do it?  Anyhow Andy did not mess around, he stood in there and did his job and got rid of the ball ahead of the pressure. Down the field. With the same players Bryce had. Night and day.  If that didn't wake him up nothing ever would. But I don't think he has any sort of top NFL QB in him, he just lacks the full tool kit.
    • Team is dangerous right now, all four lines are contributing and the speed at which the guys play at is tremendous.
