He let Norman walk.  Could of tagged him, could of traded him, could of done something with him.  You don't build up an asset like Norman to just cut him.

He let him walk.  That caused him to draft clearly for need to try to fix the last minute debacle of the Norman situation.  Limited the impact the draft could have on our team.

Didn't upgrade at obvious areas of need and I am not talking about bringing in an all pro

He did tag him, Norman wanted a long term deal that wasn't going to happen in carolina. I doubt a team would have gave away a 1st round or 2nd round pick + making Josh Norman the highest paid CB in the league.

Isn't this what we wanted, a GM with a backbone. Gettleman isn't going to be bullied (see steve smith) and he's going to do whats best for the team.

Who should he have brought in?

A couple of thoughts:

We have a very old roster now. Even before these signings we had the 5th oldest roster.

Apparently Tre Boston is too erratic to be counted on as a starter.

FWIW, Getts has commented multiple times that lack of experience has hurt us in the playoffs.  Last year proved that age, when used correctly and knowing players limits, can be a good thing.

so vernon is a bust after 3 games?

The pick does not make the team better, there are so many other areas lacking in depth and even quality starters and he drafted where we were arguably deepest.  It makes no sense.  The lack of production on field and now an injury just add to it.

If vernon is the best player on the panthers board doesn't that make sense as to why he was picked. Who in your opinion should have been the panther's pick?

Jason Pierre-Paul was drafted when the giants had osi/tuck look how that worked.

He's thinking long term, but our window is now. When Gettleman got here he said that with our cap situation we had to shop at Walmart, then Target, then once it's fixed we could shop at Tiffany's. Well, we went through the Walmart and the Target years, and now that he has near 30 million in cap space, he looked at Tiffany's and shrugged and went back to Walmart.

Gettleman doesn't believe in windows. He wants long term sustained success like the patriots.

And we have shopped at Tiffany's, why don't people realize this? We resigned Davis, Olsen, Newton, and Luke. Just because we already had them doesn't mean they aren't worthy a tiffany's designation. They just aren't a shinny "New" player.

If you go back to the 2015 draft threads, I wanted 2OTs, 2DEs, and 2DBs.... It was easy this year cause I wanted the same outcome. *Spoiler alert *I want the same dam thing in the coming draft.

Btw i give each rookie class one full year before I judge. shaq has had little impact, funchess the same after everyone was on their nuts during preseason. Plus Williams is feeling more and more like Byron Bell ver2.0. It's seem like coach ray brown has a soft spot for tryhards.

That said I'm not judging this draft class(even if it's tiny) til week 1 2017, but the shaq lead class is looking like a special team focused one. Which is sad given how bad the ST coverage and return units are playing.

some real clown comments in this thread.

Secondary holds the NFL leading WR to 40 yards with a rookie DB and Josh Norman is being talked about in the same week he's being burned all game.

2.4 YPC rushing against the Vikings after 2.5 allowed to the 49ers last week and suggesting we need Roman Harper back. His team got run on for 200 yards so easily they gave Julio a vet day.

Man, is this material for Thomas Davis' comedy show for charity tonight? cause this poo is really funny.

Talking like this FO doesn't know what it's doing while suggesting that they'll just swap a starter with this old injured DB who was awful last year. fuging JOKESSS
