Crazy Stadium Experience on Sunday

If you go to an event where standing is the expectation and you demand other people sit, then you are the person who is being selfish. It seems to me that you knew what to expect from a football game, which is why you bought tickets in the front row. I think we all understand that there are people who can't stand for one reason or another and that's fine. Those people should not be precluded from attending the game, but they should take advantage of the options the team offers specifically for them, so that everyone is able to enjoy the game.

I'm really not trying to be insensitive here. I've developed some pretty severe hearing issues over the past few years to the point where being in certain environments causes significant issues. I don't ask my coworkers to keep their conversations down or stay away from my desk. I don't ask retail stores to change their acoustics or the volume of the music. I understand that in certain situations things will be painful or distracting if I'm not proactive. I have noise canceling earphones at my desk and try to go to places like Ikea on off times. It's not the world's responsibility to adjust itself to my issues.

I disagree with your premiss that standing is an expectation at NFL games. It is not.

Supporting the team and making noise in a civilized manner is the expectation at BOA. It is meant to be a family friendly environment.

If the majority of the people behind you want to sit then you should have enough courtesy to not block their view.

That apparently did not happen but we are only getting your side of the story. The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.

It is simply not necessary to stand up the entire game to be a "good" or a "real" fan. I'm a super-fan, and while I was still physically able to go to the games, I still had difficulties standing up the entire time. I would stand at appropriately exciting times, and definitely on opposing teams' 3rd downs. When the Panthers are on offense, they need quiet, not lots of noise. I was always loud (at the right times). I hate that there's so much bickering among Panthers fans about this. Be respectful of each other.
