I did some exhausting research and got some interesting statistics from our defense under John Fox's tenure as Panthers head coach. While nothing really jumps out I want you to notice two things: 1) The absolute inconsistency of the defensive statistics could be caused by tougher schedules, injuries, or just inconsistent coaching, you decide. 2) Notice the opponents Passer rating, it really definds whether a defense had a good year or bad year. Enjoy:

Opp Passer Rating= You ready for it? Its a very troubling sign of possible things to come...if you scare easily look away now...ok here it is...

97.5!!!!!!!

This defense has to get better in every phase of the game and soon. Its troubling that we don't have many sacks, and that we are allowing so many points. 3rd down is not that big of deal because it hasn't really effected our record over the years. And that Passer Rating HAS to go down. For those of you that don't know its a rating based on yards, td's, int's, completion percentage, and I think yards per attempt, and all that is divided by like 27 or something. Very confusing but very accurate in terms of measuring a QB's effectiveness, and QB's have been very effective against our soft cover 2 defense.

Just like I discovered that average yards per play has a direct corrulation with the score so does the QB rating and how well the defense is playing (most of the time).

Im at Patrick, in Florida. Im getting out in about a month, too.

Hey! I just got out of the AF too. Just 36 years ago! Seems like yesterday.

What I want to know is how you guys got stationed at bases like that. Close to home and anywhere in Fla would be great. I got sent to "garden" spots, Biloxi, MS (Keesler AFB the week after Hurricane Camile) Great Falls, MT (Malmstrom AFB) it snowed in June, I had to wear my field jacket on July 4th and winter started with a foot of snow on Labor day! I kind of wish I had stayed in now though, one of those hindsight things.

    • There is merit to the points you're making here. On the flip side one could argue it took us investing 150 million in the oline for him to have a breakout season. And he has still yet to hit 1k rushing yards in a season. As far as Brooks goes the position does not require that significant of a draft investment for many other teams. That's not being negative it's just a matter of fact. The 49ers did quite well with a UDFA running back while McCaffrey was out. It is understandable that some people have concerns. That being said it boils down to whether or not you believe in the player. We just have to see what happens with him and Brooks.
    • Okay, that day in Vegas had to embarrass him completely. Andy showed him how to do the job.  What I think when I go there, why did it take Andy? He has had game after game of watching actual NFL QBs work and that didn't do it?  Anyhow Andy did not mess around, he stood in there and did his job and got rid of the ball ahead of the pressure. Down the field. With the same players Bryce had. Night and day.  If that didn't wake him up nothing ever would. But I don't think he has any sort of top NFL QB in him, he just lacks the full tool kit.
    • Team is dangerous right now, all four lines are contributing and the speed at which the guys play at is tremendous.
