TB lose! 1-2 just like us

Yeah we have been disappointing but we were a hairs length away from losing some games last year, no, nyg etc. Looking at the schedule we can still realistically go 12-4. Just have to play to our ability. I believe the O line can improve but pass rush is a concern. We should be top of the division by the end of week 4

Obviously glad Tampa lost and winning the division is the first goal, but I want more than that.

Denver and Minnesota are both really good teams but the truth is we're 0-2 against them. That's the litmus test I'm using and we haven't measured up.

A lot of time to correct but there is a LOT of work to be done

I don't see it as the Panthers having a lot of time to correct this. The division games start now. The next 3 weeks are the most important weeks in the season with 2 of them being away games. They are more valuable than any other game outside the Tampa Bay away game at the end of the season.

missed fg in denver and held the vikings to 34 yrds in the first half.  we are still a great team but that second half was awful.  denver and sota both can really rush the passer so not time to panic completely.

We lost to the 2 best defensive teams in the league and there both 3-0. The NFC is just 2 crazy to judge right now but i am little disappointed that we are not standing out above the rest.

Great teams do not keep losing to playoff caliber teams or SB contenders. The Broncos, Vikings, Cardinals, Chiefs, Raiders, Seahawks, and Washington are the games that will measure this team. In the playoffs, a team has to consecutively beat 3 to 4 of those playoff caliber teams.

That is why the Vikings looked like they won the SB today. That win for the Vikings in Charlotte just made them even stronger. That game for them was like the regular season Seahawks game for the Panthers last season.

The argument both of you pose as the Panthers coming away with moral victories means nothing if you believe in SB or bust. If you are satisfied with a playoff appearance, then I agree with your outlook.

Unfortunately, I believe that is the goal of a mediocre team or rebuilding team. These middle of the road teams or rebuilding teams are the ones with fans who hold their team up to a division championship or wildcard team as the measure of success.

The Panthers have been beyond that since 2013. That is why the huge step back in 2014 was so disappointing. Anything less than dominating the division and beating playoff caliber teams during the season is not acceptable. Anything less than that will result in an off season of contemplating a possible rebuild of the team and the hot seat warming up.

SB or bust.

I said it before we beat 49ers last Sunday. If the Panthers don't play better we will get our ass kicked on Sunday. We did get our ass kicked but it's not the end of the world. This team has the potential to get better that process should have started yesterday afternoon. Any team that has speed coming off the edge is going to give us big time problems. Oher and Remmers looked terrible yesterday and playcall adjustments should have been made. The defense play solid overall but I will definitely say we better find a way to get pressure without blitzing. If not it's going to be a long season. Also just another note we will see the Vikings again this season in Minnesota.

The epitamy of accepting your teams not that good is by hoping the competition is too.. I don't care who wins against who in our division or conference! It's what we do simple and plain.. If people want our division rivals to split wins and we struggle on to win the division with a 8-8 type record to be pummelled in the play-offs, is that really the direction this team should be going? We have won our division the past three years in a row ( one of those with a 7-8-1 record ) our team should be better than that mindset to win whatever or however. We should boss our division and build to go deep into the play-offs again! Right now would you want to go Minnesota in December? Hell even the Eagles and Cowboys would beat us the way we've started this year! We need to get it together and forget anyone else, do your job! That's what's most important the rest takes care of itself. So to the OP I'm not a fan of the logic of hoping our rivals lose to make our picture look prettier! It's just papering over the cracks to ease your mind.

2011 Carolina started 1 - 2 ended up 6 - 10

2012 started 1 - 2   ended 7 - 9

2013 started 1 -2 ended 12 - 4

2014 started 2 -1 ended 7 - 8 - 1

2015 started 3 - 0 ended 15 -1

2016 started 1 - 2

In 6 years we've started out good twice, one being a winning season, one being a losing season. Not sure why but we often start out slow.

Wow jamesis had a TD right there for the win and just slows up and gets hit from behind... thanks jamesis :)

I was sweating during the last minute of that Rams - Tampa game.  Looked for all the world like Tampa was gonna score.  SO relieved they didn't.

Thanks Jameis indeed!

And yes I totally agree with those who say it's sad to be happy that we're tied with Tampa.  But at this point, I'll take what we can get, while hoping the Panthers can pull things together quickly,
