Why I'm not concerned at 1-2

We always get better as the season goes on. That was offset last year by playing some pretty bad teams at the beginning of the year and even then we just squeaked out wins. This year we've started by playing two very good teams. I'm conerned but I do expect the team to get better as the season goes on.

Exactly this. We went 4-0 at the start last year but we played like crap. Barely beat the Jags and Texans and a Brees-less Saint team. We werent good but we got by because we were playing bad teams, this year we arent.

We'll get better as the season goes on, it's been the case every year under Rivera.

Well, I think we are at a point where the playoffs are an expectation.  I don't disagree that an ugly 9-7 playoff team that wins it is fine, but at this point I don't see us being that team.

We can bounce back and become that team, but we have to get back to basics like protecting the QB with players and plays, protecting the football and rushing the passer.

I think some better discipline on this team would go a long ways, we have had some terrible turnovers and penalties that have been killing us this year. 1 penalty and 1 bad special teams play away from us winning today. It's hard to imagine but if KB doesn't push a guy in the back for no reason and ST doesn't give up a punt return for a touchdown we win today.

Cam is also holding onto the ball way too long. He caused 4 of his own sacks. Especially when you know you're playing a team with a good pass rush you just have to play better then that.

These are issues that I think are easily fixed by the coaching staff. Maybe today's loss gets the players listening a bit better.

Overall I thought our has defense played well today and so far this season for that matter. I'm not 100% sure yet but we may have a really good defense this year.  for example offense and ST gave up 12 of the 22 points the Vikings scored today and the offense  spotted the 49'ers 17 points last week but we forget that because it doesn't matter. Our defense is imho playing just fine this year. Offense needs to clean it up and I think we will be just fine because the offense while having some protection issues now is well capable of dropping 30pts a game when rolling.

boy that post went a lot longer then I originally intended...

Here let me say it again. Cam Newton came into the worst offense in the NFL. Since then the Panthers have spent exactly 1 pick on offense...KB who was about the 8th pass catcher taken at the end of round 1. Oh, and he was taken because literally we had no one else to play WR.

You can go on and on with making excuses as to why the Panthers under Newton seem incapable of protecting their franchise, MVP, QB with talent and protection, instead I choose to see the obvious.

dude, name the offensive player we should have taken- the problem with picking late in the first round (i.e. being good) is the talent isn't always there. better to draft BPA then overdraft

Really. Do you really think DG drafted 500 CBs because he thought that was the BPA? Even when he drafted KB do you think he did so because KB was the best available or because knew that the Panthers literally had ZERO WRs on the roster at the time?

Going BPA has gotten our MVP QB to be the most hit QB since entering the league.

Again with the excuses, Cam Newton is LITERALLY about to be this generation's McNabb. An unbelievable talent who's front office swears needs ZERO help.

I'm not worried about 2 losses.  The problem is calls that take 8 seconds to develop.  Cam held the ball for 7 seconds on one of the plays he was sacked.

We are back to 2012. Cam forcing balls and our offense taking deep shots.

You should be very worried. Our zone defense is only effective if our front four is pressuring the qb. Our front four is not even remotely in the same ball park as they were last year.

KK Short bet on himself this year and he is losing that bet. He is getting manhandled and star is not picking up the slack. CJ is a shell of his former self and Ealy is irrelevant on most plays.

Until this unit gets better we are going to struggle.

again you can't name an offensive player so don't act like you know better than G-man
