I'm not sure what you guys are talking about. Funchess is basically undefendable on slants. He's beaten some of the best CBs in the NFC with that route - as a rookie. So why the heck didn't he run it at all today? That should be the question. 

If a team has a CB and Safety on your WR, then you run him in motion to the slot, and give them some crossing/rub routes to get them off that crap. You can't just let them comfortably run their game plan against your best WR.

I still believe in Funchess, getting your talent involved in the game is not a simple as just walking them on the field. This is definitely an overreaction. Shula just needs to figure how to get him involved.
