Has anyone else's enjoyment of the NFL been dampened by lack of player safety? After watching the movie Concussion and having read League of Denial, I find it much harder to enjoy games now. Don't get me wrong I still love football, haven't missed a Panther game in a long time, and don't plan to anytime soon. However, every time I see a helmet to helmet hit or blow to the head in any way I cringe at the thought of the repercussions it could have on that player down the road. What irritates me the most is the NFL's lack of empathy and initiative. Like after the Denver game, I was the most pissed I've been in a long time. After watching Cam take all those dirty hits and not being granted a single yard due to penalty, I was sure there would be upcoming multiple game suspensions. Then watching the NFL fine Stewart and Marshall not much more than what they fined Trai Turner for jumping up and down was like a slap in the face. I understand football is a violent sport but we aren't talking bruises and broken bones here. Something more needs to be done.

The thing is CTE is a newly found disease and up until recently players DIDN'T know the risk involved. As for seeing the NFL as "some kind of boogeyman" and the players as victims, that is actually sort of the case. The NFL is a 63 billion dollar industry and they will do anything they can to hide the dangers and sell their product. I'm not saying that they should do away with tackling or anything of that sort. I do think they should increase fines and suspensions however to discourage dirty hits as much as possible. Also, more innovation needs to go into equipment design, as we are seeing companies like Vicis attempt.

It has not changed my view of the game. As a child I caught on its not great for your brain to be rattled in any type of way. For sure life changing hits occur every sunday. They know that though.. you could work in an office for 60 years and live a normal life or live it full out and make millions and have a healthy 25 years.

People get brain damage from riding Jet Skis bouncing up and down. Can't live in a bubble.. just have to decide what is worth it to ya

I'm sure that when Chris Benoit's son was being strangled to death next to a bible, his final thoughts were "I knew this might happen. Ho hum."

      I'd say its definitely going to be addressed this off-season.  We went into the last draft with a roster of RBs including:  Chubba, Blackshear, and Miles Sanders. We picked Jonathan Brooks in the second and still signed Rashaad Penny afterwards.  Fast forward....One turned into a top 10 back, 1 is injured/out for most if not all the '25 season, 1 retired, 1 will either take a huge paycut or be cut, and the last is a restricted free agent. We brought in Mike Boone as well. Add him to the free agent list also.  We need a physical option.    Which qualifies:  Ashton Jeanty(Boise St): Overall ranked Top 10. Almost 2k yards after contact, 28 tds. Would take our first rounder. My money would be on an NFC East team selecting him. (97.2 PFF run grade) - 121 forced missed tackles.  Omarion Hampton(UNC): Ranked everywhere from 20 - 59 overall. Consensus #2 back after Jeanty. He'll be a second rounder. 1,222 Yards after contact w/ 15 tds.  (90.5 PFF run grade) - 72 forced missed Tackles Kaleb Johnson(Iowa): Ranked from 38 - 69 depending on which media outlet you prefer but generally #3. 2nd/3rd possibly. 1,060 Yards after contact w/ 21 tds.(86.7 PFF run grade)- 66 forced missed tackles Cam Skattebo: Ranked from the 50's - 104. Every mock I do he ends up BPA at some point. 969 Yards after contact w/ 17 tds(92 PFF Run Grade). Probably the best receiving back of the group. 81 forced missed tackles.  If the '24 and '25 draft classes were combined, IMO the rankings would be, in order: Jeanty, Hampton, Brooks, Johnson, Skattebo. I wouldn't take one high but I'd take one for Chubba and Brooks insurance.
