mr scot your ass is out. stop pontificating with your down home common-sensey insulated perspective and listen for two god damn seconds what people are saying about their personal experiences. it takes a staggering level of arrogance and frankly a shitty rotten heart to listen to people sharing the very real, quantitative and qualitatively verifiable experiences that have shaped them and tell them they're fools simply because (1) you didn't personally have that experience, and (2) because you utterly lack the ability to step outside your own frame of reference and empathize with someone else's.

i know you won't, but please stop talking. you are embarrassing yourself and even worse you are doing damage.

boooooooo philly b shame on you for this bitter tasting spew?

dont you see my FRIEND OUR nation is already racially divided simply by the color of their skin not words, and that the path to unification will only begin whenever we all band together not from the outside in but inside out.

our compass is driven by fear, injustices, direspectt, and viloence on this matter are supposedly headed to the mountain top?wake up here for once and for ALL EVERYONE and look where we are sailing and that the world aint flat but in fact right around the corner a volcano fixing to spew that  booooooooo by the name of HISTORY--------------

Please, for the love of all decency, take your thesauarus and your white wannabe bartender ass out of this conversation. We love all of your views. Really.

We get it. You are the voice of all that is wrong with this world. You want to right that is wrong with this world. You are so goddamned correct, and everybody else is wrong.

Now take the 5 dollar bill from that racist old lady and tell us why we're all wrong again. And fix me another gin and tonic, whore. We all care. As long as you do what we say. Or do you not want a tip?

Cam is not the bad guy. No one is telling him to shut up. We simply said making statements like we're past racism is hurtful snd disrespectful to the community and the ones out here really fighting this struggle, especially when he himself knows that it's not true. He can go look at his mentions on Twitter and see that for himself. Telling him to not speak on issues he doesn't want to talk about (because he doesn't, he answers the questions as they come) is not calling him a sellout. Saying that if he does give an opinion, it needs to be 100% Cam isn't calling him a setout either. Cam is still a good dude by me and I know other blacks feel the same. But we can all agree he said what he said and the backlash he received is what it is. He will be okay and so will we.

Maybe its me but when GQ asked if football fans are racist to him, he said its not racism. They said if it's not racism, what is it. His response was "I’ll let you be the judge. I don’t look at it like that. I look at it like some people have certain beliefs, and I have my own belief"

Racism is a belief, I thought he answered it in the slickest manner. After that they mentioned his pre-SB comments, but he explained his SB comments back then. He said then it wasn't about race, but instead about other black QB's that came before him who he was compared to coming out of college. I interpreted his comments as in the football sense, we're past that as a nation that he's a black QB so I don't like him narrative. Even though they are some football fans that are racist to him cause he is a black QB, but he's hated on for many other things thats not race related. I didn't read his comments as racism doesn't exist in America

That part was totally fine. I do think that he doesn't see criticism of himself as being racially motivated. I think he feels like maybe people don't like him because of who he is--character related. But when he said "we're past that as a nation," that's when the horn blew for us. No, we aren't past that as a nation at all. That was the blow I don't think anyone was ready to take. If he hadn't made that statement, he wouldn't be receiving nearly half of the backlash. I support him still but that was stupid to say and disrespectful, even though I know he didn't mean or believe that.

@Jeremy Igo, a guy who actually has inside access to the team and has, in fact, actually talked to Cam Newton, has stated that nobody in the Panther organization is controlling what Newton is saying. Head Coach Ron Rivera, himself a minority, has said the same thing.

Again, why should I believe what you suggest over someone who's actually been in contact with the people involved?

This is correct.

I don't know if Cam truly believes what he is saying, because I am not Cam Newton.

But I can tell you it is not the Panthers or NFL that is making him say them. If he is saying things he doesn't really believe, he has other motivations to do so.

Anyone else get the feeling that maybe the people on here who have been insinuating for awhile now that Cam isn't somehow black enough in his response to Kaepernicks protest, could be paid trolls? As if they have an monopoly on the black experience here in America and how said experiences should handled and responded to.
I mean we know that the Hillary Campaign and the Democratic party have already been caught paying professional trolls to infiltrate social media and message boards alike to plant discourse, racial and otherwise. I mean when your policies are the same ole rehash and failed status quo policies that have us in the mess we are in now, and don't have a leg to stand on, and I mean literally don't have have a leg to stand on, (did anyone else see the recent video where the Secret Service had to literally keep her standing upright, anyways I digress.
Again when you have failed policies the only solution that is tried and true, is divide and conquer. Heck since this forum has turned into one political debate after an another, I figured I would put my conspiratorial 2 cents in. North Carolina is a battleground state afterall.

As a black man growing up in America I know firsthand that I've dealt with racism, I know for me some of the most overt racism has come from law enforcement, from being pulled over for BS, purely just for being black, to having them bug their eyes out at me like I was some threat when I gave them no reason to be on the alarm. Is it fair to have to go through those things in your own country hell no. BUT WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH MY FAVORITE QB?

I also know that the government iE:politicians have set policy that pressures police forces across America with the task to ticket people for minor traffic stops as a form of revenue generating for the states, I also know as a black man especially a young black man that I am a easy target, the easiest target for said policies. I also know with the militaristic police-state training that these commandos get now, that the more interactions that I have with them merely being a black man puts me at greater risk, especially if I'm not fully composed in those situations.

Somethings do need to change, but laying them at the foot of athletes is wrong, racism has been here before any of us were born and will more than likely be here after we're all gone. These are complicated issues and it's up to the individual how they choose to respond to them regardless of how much money they make or what spotlight is on them. We all see race anyone whoever says that they don't is either blind or lying. The question that the inner-self must answer is how can I see past the outward differences, language, culture, whatever it might be and see the common humanity in all of us. And I think that's what Cam was speaking to when he mentioned the 1/8 skin and how he felt racism was over, not that he was a lone voice speaking for over 360 million people, but that for him, his outlook it was over, despite the many criticisms of him in the past.

If Kaepernick chooses to protest police violence I applaud him, good for him, we as human-beings individually pick and choose our own battles to fight, what I find ironic from the BLM crowd who are coming at Cam Newton now, is that we had a black President and his cohort Hillary Clinton orchestrate the bombing of a African country called Libya simply to confiscate their gold and oil reserves and set up an IMF Central bank in the country. Countless of black lives were killed in those bombings and subsequently afterwards once Libya's government was eradicated ISIS took control of the country and started massacre thousands of black Africans in a genocide. Where was BLM protesting our President? Oh I guess black lives only matter within our borders. You see WE ALL CHOOSE WHICH BATTLES AND INJUSTICES WE WANT TO FIGHT.

Cool.

Perhaps now we can drop this narrative and stop trying to turn a guy who wants to be the best football player he can while doing some good in his community into something he's not trying to be.

Cam has been and is a very positive influence, and any suggestion that his not taking a certain political stance means he's somehow harming people's lives is a huge disservice to him and all the good he's done.

I don't think its healthy to assume Cam Newton doesn't mean what he is saying because of his skin color. Surely the black community, just like the white community, Hispanic community, gay community, star trek lovers community, has a multitude of differing opinions within it on any subject. That is part of what makes it a community.

You had me up until the Star Trek community.

They and the Star Wars community are bitter enemies.
