What is the appropriate response to the riots in Charlotte?

Have Cam and Luke stand at mid field on the NFL symbol with their hands over their hearts. Then have them lock and raise their free hands to the sky. The rest of the team encircles them with the police during the national anthem. Immediately following the national anthem, they have someone lead the stadium in prayer for the fallen citizens and officers due to street and police violence. Cam and Luke then take a knee at midfield for the prayer. Following the prayer, Cam, Luke , and others need to shake hands and hug.

This issue is not about us versus them. This needs to be about everyone acknowledging to their communities what they socially hate and fear. Then we must reconcile that hate and fear with others in the community. This is not about defending hate and fear as the most important aspect of an individual's self due to the individual refusing to be vulnerable in the eyes of their community.

Until people realize that reconciliation and charity need to stand at the center while dissension and judgement watch from the sideline, we will continue to see violence in the streets. We will witness healing when people value reconciliation and charity at a much greater cost than the hate and fear that is currently embraced by dissension and judgement.

We can all watch and wait, without any guarantee, for this hate and fear to diminish to a level that allows dissension and judgement to fall below our current value of reconciliation and charity, or we can push for the collective value of reconciliation and charity to swell among the people and overtake dissension and judgement.

Either way, the hate and fear is present and will be addressed with action. We can decide what type of action will be taken, but one act we are not afforded is closing our eyes and wishing it out of existence. Unfortunately, the cost to address this hate and fear will continue to exponentially rise to levels of death and discord until attrition or unification bring resolution to this conflict.

I stand with unification.

I stand with reconciliation.

I stand.

I think tear gas and riot shields are the appropriate response. Maybe rubber bullets

Yep.  A peaceful protest is one thing but when all the peace goes away and its just unemployed looters trying to stir the pot its time for the bean bag shot guns and tear gas.  Some big ass dogs would be a nice effect.

An appropriate response? Justice. I'm not a fan of rioting but it happens because time and time again, we've come up on the short end of the stick. We are tired of them killing our babies, some of us are tired of us killing our babies, we just want change and equality. If a police officer who is employed to protect and serve shoots a black person down, all they have to say is "I thought he had a gun" or "I was in fear" even if their hands are up and they're following orders and they get off. If a black person guns down a police officer, we are immediately hanged out to dry. When officers arrested Dylan Roof, they rook him to Burger King. When they arrested Alton Sterling, they shot him dead and he was only selling CDs. So understand the frustration in the people. Again, I don't like the rioting and looting because you don't make any moves like that. But I fully understand the anger and frustration. I'm angry, frustrated and hurt too. Some of you can benefit by going out and protesting and participating in townhalls and trying to understand. I do think it is unfair to ask these players to be your voice when you have your own, but everybody needs to be involved. ALM needs to meet up with BLM and take make strides.

This is bigger than football right now.

They did not take Dylan Roof to Burger King. http://www.snopes.com/2015/06/22/dylann-roof-burger-king/

somehow i don't think this will appease those who wish to tear poo down.  i don't think unity is what they are after.  cam's already been threatened with something if he doesn't take a knee during the anthem.  that's where we are in this matter.

Where we are in this matter is a police force not showing footage of the crime and putting this to rest. Not some random nobody threatening a multi-million dollar athlete.

some random clown threatening Cam Newton  (per your words) is where we are at with the protest. Your words.

Which is an incredibly stupid thing to suggest btw.

to be clear, i'm not suggesting i think that that guy is going to do anything.  i'm suggesting that thinking singing kumbaya at midfield or that some dash cam video is going to appease those that want to riot is lunacy.  i used that dumbass as an example of where people are in their head's on this issue.
