Any concerns of protests this Sunday?

I was at the game last year and maybe I didnt leave early or something but although I saw lots of police before and after the game, I never saw any problems at all.  The protest was supposed to be by the ball field but by the time I exited, it was empty and no one was around.  Will there be a protest?  I expect one.  People looking to assert a cause are always looking for opportunities to get publicity.  This is a perfect way to get it.

You people talking about intelligence consider this.  Do you need intelligence, or do you need wit, cunning and the like?  Some of the best football players did horribly on the wonderlic for instance.  They were decisive men of action.  Not test takers.  I believe in more situational testing.  Set up courses for shooting and make them modular so that no cadet in any one class gets the same test.  You enter the course as if on foot patrol and not with weapon drawn.  Make the decision on when or even if you need to draw.

No, they're already good at shooting. They need life skills like recognizing situations. They need skills in sociology that let them think about situations when people may be hostile towards them for reasons beyond their control. They need to understand race relations, economics, history and the like to be able to understand the society they are supposed to be protecting.

16 weeks!?!?!? Holy sh*t that's a full semester at the community college. They are geniuses by the end of their training. Holy hell.

I do think 4 year degree should be required and pay should reflect the fact that with a degree they're not total idiots

I just read the requirements. The highway patrol is most stringent with intelligence, requiring a 10th grade reading level AND a ged.

10th fugging grade reading level. I have even less respect for cops now.

You would think with Charlotte having a black police chief and the fact that the officer that was involved in this particular shooting was black that they would have had a head start on this right? Do you think these two understood race relations?

That happened in Chicago in the 60s. Problem was most of the looting and burning was in their own neighborhoods. Afterwards there were no stores or people that wanted to reopen in those areas making it hard for folks with limited transportation or assets to get even the basics. That kind of thinking is very scary and part of the problem not the solution.  If you think rioting solves problems instead of dividing people and causing hate then you are also part of the problem.
