They don't want to be concerned with black on black crime because then there would have to be some personal accountability somewhere and we can see that's not happening. The problem is that people who take the time to go through an education process don't want to be cops.  People know that it is a hard, high risk job with little reward and compensation, and that the cops are the first to be blamed in many cases.  Society no longer asks what the civilian did, and cops are often assumed to be in the wrong before facts and evidence are presented.

Because they fug up. I know it's a hard job, that's why you should have to prove a small level of intelligence to get the job

I wonder why anyone with any intelligence and a high IQ would want to be a police officer in this day and time.They risk  their lives everyday for people they don'y know and for little pay. Americans want to feel safe and be protected but they want a police force that's  soft and forgiving and will just turn the other cheek when asked to.

Like passing an exam after a 16 week course totaling 620 hours?

That's just one of the requirements for a $40K salary.

So a small level of intelligence is proven.  I believe in giving them more education and more salary.

Americans want to feel safe and be protected but they want a police force that's  soft and forgiving and will just turn the other cheek when asked to. 

 

No they want police that actually serve and protect and can have the mental power to think before they shoot. If you can't have average intelligence, you shouldn't "get" to be a cop. What you're saying is that no intelligent person would want to be a cop, so we're left with the power tripping, badge wearing, gun toting people morons that fug it up for everyone. Doesn't NC highway patrol require a 4 year degree?

16 weeks!?!?!? Holy sh*t that's a full semester at the community college. They are geniuses by the end of their training. Holy hell.

I do think 4 year degree should be required and pay should reflect the fact that with a degree they're not total idiots

Nobody is stopping you from talking about that. There's only 2 active threads in this forum that are discussing this, and one has to do with Cam and the other has to do with the potential situation at the stadium this Sunday. One has to do with a Panther football player and this one with the stadium where the panthers play football at. You don't like this thread, stay out of it. Which, from your posts in here, seems hard for you to do.

It definitely isn't enough.  I think that much should be just in the classroom, and then add on for tactical and situational training.

Precisely. The system is simply fuged and needs reform. It just so happens that people of color are typically at the heels of the system and the lid is slowly but surely boiling over.
