Scouting The Vikings

We pretty much play strictly zone.  I think they've left Bradberry alone with a man a few times... he got burned for a TD against the 49ers.  Our pass rush hasn't looked so hot, so Bradford will probably have a good game, he's pretty accurate.

Philly Brown #10 is someone to watch... good route runner and faster than you think.  Funchess has come on strong in his 2nd year also, but hasn't seen many targets yet with KB and Olsen out there.  Although he had a brilliant TD grab Sunday.

Our other rookie corner Worley made some good ST tackles last week.

Artis-Payne (aka CAP) should be the #1 RB this week after being oddly inactive for the past two games replacing Stewart.  More of a a finesse kind of runner than JStew and good receiving out of the back field.

We've also got this guy... 6'5", 245, runs fast, big arm, smiles a lot... may have seen him somewhere... :)

Does he wear funny hats?

Thanks for the analysis Vikings fans.

I know we won't underestimate this team. I doubt they will give our absolutely incredible offense a much of a headache (that's no slight either, our offense is top 3 very easily). The Broncos stifle us because their edge rushers are so amazing and our tackles are so mediocre. I know Everson Griffin is good, but I don't know a lot about any of the other Vikings edge rushers.

Can someone give me a breakdown of the Pathers. I am interested in your Oline. I know some of the known commodities but I would like a break down of individual players strengths and weaknesses on the Oline. How has Remmers looked? Has he bounced back from the SB?

Has Ginn picked up from last year. I am going to go back and watch your two games this week.

Oher - great pass blocker, below average in run game

Norwell - Physically limited but an extremely tough and technically sound player. Solid in pass pro and run blocking.

Kalil - Best center in the game

Turner - Top 5 guard

Remmers - Solid run blocker solid in pass protection against 4-3 defenses. Only big weakness is 3-4 outside speed rushers like Miller. Handled JJ Watt just fine last year.

When comparing the Vikings and Panthers I'd say they'd be pretty close to even if one wasn't taking into account the offensive lines and QBs.

This dude really tried to argue for a minute that Barr is on the same level, or better, at coverage than Luke Kuechly... the same Luke Kuechly who is currently on the fast track to quite easily go down as the greatest coverage LBer of all time.

Lol, sorry... I just couldn't get past that bit without adding my 2 cents first.

Even tried using a source (PFF) that has went on record several times over the past few seasons stating Luke is hands down, by far, the best coverage LB in the NFL... to try and make a point that Barr was better.  Despite the fact that PFF has been preaching all off season that Luke is the best coverage DEFENDER in the entire NFL - not just linebacker.

Holy shoving your foot in your mouth, Batman.  Talk about seeing/hearing what you want to.

P.S. - that October 10th date coincides with the time that Luke had his concussion and was missing time... so even that #1 spot on the list for that particular time is sort of hollow, seeing as once Luke returned he immediately proceeded to literally begin breaking PFF's grading scale on a weekly basis and was the reason they had to readjust it this offseason.

Looking forward to reading this thread in full.  I've appreciated the bits I've skimmed...

Just came across this interesting brief comment about Bradford and what he brings to the Vikes offense

http://realfootballnetwork.com/trouble-d-cam-luck-sam/

Quote

BETTER WITH BRADFORD
I got in some hot water with Vikings fans last week when I wrote that this offense was better with Sam Bradford at QB. Teddy Bridgewater is a great young man and will be a very good quarterback in this league. But Bradford has a stronger arm, and that allows OC Norv Turner to exploit the deep pass that has been largely missing from this attack. The play action game just got better as well. Defenses will have to honor Sam’s arm, and Vikings fans will see a lot more two-high safety looks in the coming weeks, which will help the run game, with or without AP. If they can’t run, the Vikings offense will struggle either way.

No let him talk. There is always one on the board. I believe my first statement was that Barr was a better overall LB. I recanted and explained that the right word I should have said was VERSATILE. Barr is a much better pass rusher than Luke and he isn't far behind him in coverage and run support. I believe I was adamant that He was the more dominant LB. BTW, PFF articles are very hard to find. I just grabbed an article late last night. If, I cared enough I would keep searching for the exact article they pointed to at the end of the season. P.S. I don't care enough.

Lol I am calm.  Perfectly so in fact.  I was literally chuckling and shaking my head the whole time I was typing that.

Just had to add a bit of commentary to that bit since I missed the original convo.

Thanks for the breakdown. I'll trade you my Khalil for your Khalil?
Also. Your WR from Tulsa. How did he look? He is on your Practice Squad.

Like a practice squad WR with room for growth. Didn't show much at all until late in camp/preseason.
