Scouting The Vikings

Hello, Vikings fan here!  I don't think that our run defense is a weak point in our defense.  We are 6th in rushing yards given up at 73.5 yards per game.  If Rhodes comes back that would really boost our secondary in my opinion as he would probably shadow Benjamin because he has the size to make a impact in that match up.  I really hope that Sharif Floyd plays this game because he is a beast in the middle and good at run stopping, he just needs to toughen up to be a very good player in my opinion.

I am in the camp that believes that with Peterson being out will open up the offense more.  Norv turner either consciously or unconsciously would run our offense through AP and that makes it very easy for opposing teams defenses to focus on our defense.  expect Mckinnon and Asiata to do some things in the run game, Mckinnon is the shifty pass catching back and Asiata is a bruising downhill runner who also has decent hands in the passing game.  But, I believe with these 2 in the game and no Peterson the Panthers will have to devote more defenders to the pass and that will open up lanes for them.

Overall I think that this is going to be a very entertaining game and I really hope the Vikings learn this week to fall on some fumbles.  Seriously that game sunday night shouldnt have even been close!  FALL ON A DAMN FUMBLE!!!!!!

I personally think some of you guys are giving Vikesfan too hard of a time...  he's on here talking in enemy territory about his team with good football analysis and no attitude... chill tf out.

Good analysis @Vikesfan...  I think MN will be a pretty tough game with or without AP.  Panthers needs to stop with the silly mistakes, we got away with way too many Sunday.

I would expound on our OL a little, but I'm not really the one to do it.   One question I have myself is how is Trai Turner?  I know he was out some vs the 49ers and Daryl Williams played RG for at least a bit.

Some of you need to chill

They're not even equals, much less better.  Vikings have a good defense, but that's a bit out there.

Denver has a lot of big names but that doesn't mean we aren't just as good if not better. We are a lot younger and most of our players aren't int heir primes yet.

That's not the point I was making though. The Vikings have a good D but Cam still destroyed good Ds last season. Denver's D was huffing and puffing at halftime.

Sunday will be a good game either way and a good test for both teams. We are a competitive NFC team that the Panthers will need to beat to get back to the big show and we need a measuring stick to see if we are as good as we think we are. 60/40 Panthers in my mind.

You're not as good, or better, right now.  We aren't either.  Don't take it as a slight.

I disagree with a lot that you said. We were 17th last season stopping the run. We aren't very good at. While I expect us to be top 10 in rush defense hopefully. We aren't as high as 2 games would let you believe.

Also, you don't want to open up lanes for 1 average back and one above average back at the expense to our limited passing game. Missing AP makes it harder for us on offense. Prior to his injury Sam faced more vanilla defenses than normal. However, now, he will have defenses designed to stop him.

I didn't. I think you will be unpleasantly surprised how good we really are. If we had a capable offense. Our defensive numbers would look even better. I think Denver's D is overrated. Big names, highlight plays but they aren't the giants people take them for.

No problem. Anything to add on a Panthers front. Hidden gem players. Hows the WR from Tulsa looking. Tabbed him to make the team.

You probably know all about TD and Luke, but Shaq Thompson has really started to shine, he's fast and hits hard.

KB is an absolute beast.  So far he's been literally uncoverable.  Probably not news either if you're really paying attention.

Tedd Ginn gets open a lot and makes either crazy "no way" catches or drops wide open TD bombs.

Our rookie CB Bradberry has shown flashes, but he's still really green.

Our new punter is no joke. :)

Yeah I know about KB, TD and even ST.  Give me the scoop on your corners. Are they better press guys or off the ball guys. Zone or man guys. I know the big name guys but I love learning about the under the radar guys.

We pretty much play strictly zone.  I think they've left Bradberry alone with a man a few times... he got burned for a TD against the 49ers.  Our pass rush hasn't looked so hot, so Bradford will probably have a good game, he's pretty accurate.

Philly Brown #10 is someone to watch... good route runner and faster than you think.  Funchess has come on strong in his 2nd year also, but hasn't seen many targets yet with KB and Olsen out there.  Although he had a brilliant TD grab Sunday.

Our other rookie corner Worley made some good ST tackles last week.

Artis-Payne (aka CAP) should be the #1 RB this week after being oddly inactive for the past two games replacing Stewart.  More of a a finesse kind of runner than JStew and good receiving out of the back field.

We've also got this guy... 6'5", 245, runs fast, big arm, smiles a lot... may have seen him somewhere... :)
