On this Team Taking Their Feet Off the Pedal

Is it just me or were the backups playing halfway through the 4th quarter? Hey, I'm all for resting who we can, when we can but this 45-minutes of football is why we lost our edge in the SB.

This team has to stay focused for 60-minutes unless the game is just way out of hand. I hate the umbrella prevent, lackadaisical approach that this team and its coaches employ in what are thought to be blowouts.

Cam did an interview and said that the team needed to execute and focus for the entire game and I wholeheartedly agree.

Having said that...our guys practically spotted them 20+ points inside their own red zone with turnovers and not many teams can afford that and still come out with the "w." So I can't really complain too much. I just want to see this team play like they're losing instead of goofing around. Discuss.

This is not an unnatural reaction of a team to a coach telling them, through his calls and actions, "Hey guyz, I know there's 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter and all, but this game is over and we just need to play soft and run clock!  Piece of cake!"

it was mentioned last year by various players and even Rivera I think about taking the foot off the pedal.  I just don't understand why they do it since they have seen what happens when they do.  Teams just don't roll over...they fight to the end.  It almost cost us a few games last year.

Can fumbled and the Ginn mishap occurred in a small window.  I don't feel they took their foot off like in the past.

Four minutes left in the 3rd quarter we were playing our DBs 10 yards off the ball and allowing them to complete 7-8 yard passes and were fine with that as long as we came up and made the tackle.

This is exactly what I'm saying...at some point this team has to fix this issue and improve.

I never felt the O took the foot off

D started trying to let the clock run, I agree on that

At least they came back and threw it and got a TD to increase the lead even more...I love that.

It's definitely prevent defense when we get up by 2+ scores in the 4th quarter though...I hate it so bad.

As hot as it was, I have to cut the team, as a whole...coupled with all the injuries, some slack.

Man, the 9ers looked like they were just praying to get off the field.

it was nice to see Addison, Ealy, Butler and the young guys playing strong when it counted.

I really hate that...I go on the philosophy you got to where you are by playing the damn defense you been playing...why just let teams get into a rhythm and gain confidence...it literally does allow them to think they can come back and instead of giving up as teams(or at least individual players) will do and have admitted to doing...we let them have a  glimmer of hope and they fight back hard.

Need to have that killer instinct from the coaches I know Cam would run the score up if he could. I'd be all Belichick in that regard if I was coaching NFL.

Yea it was the defense not so much the offense and penalties hurt as well when we were moving the ball in the second half. I think the prevent when we had big leads last year helped gas our players out too as they were out there for more snaps since they literally let them have pitch and catch 7-10 yard players.
