Stew was probably gone anyway. I think he would have been before that but his contract made it impossible to release him and it make financial sense. We probably have to go RB in the 1st or 2nd round next year in the draft.

Agree w/1st and 2nd sentences. Disagree with you on us drafting a RB so high in the draft. Not G-man's style.

CAP, Barner and Gaffney were 5th rounder's. We'd probabaly draft another D-lineman before we draft a RB.

Idk man. CAP seems capable but definitely doesn't have the ceiling Stewart has, even at his age now.

CAP needs the reps though. Fozzy is a good RB but Stewarts ability to break tackles is going to be sorely missed.

We don't need a great RB with this high powered aerial attack we've developed in the last two years. He just has to be solid and not fumble.

We didn't need a starter when we drafted those 3. Everyone said it wasn't G-man's style to draft a DB high before this year and that we just take whoever and put them behind our front 7. Then he drafted CBS in 2, 3 and 5.

Fozzy looked very good yesterday. That 49ers defense is better than than even THEY were expecting. Their dominance over the Rams was kind of expected, but to come out like that against Carolina's offense, nobody was expecting that. But, the Panthers recovered from their mistakes, and finished the game like a championship caliber team.

I would put it out there that if JStew had not gone down, there defense would have continued to play as they had in the first half. That injury opened up the Shula passing plays as noone was ready to rely on Fozzy as much as Stew.
