All-time favorite Panther

It's going to be 89 for a while. He was the man during my high school and college years, and I have so many fond memories. I can still remember the exact position in which I was sitting on my parents' living room floor during X-Clown. In years when Panthers fans didn't have much to cheer for, he was one of the few consistent bright spots.

Thomas Davis is right up there. He'll leap Smitty if he helps the franchise get a ring and retires on top. I'd like to see a TD statue one day, but not sure about 89 -- the breakup was too messy, and he's played several years for another team. Ring of Honor, sure. Lock. Statue? I could take it or leave it, but he's still my favorite all-time Panthers player. Weird.

Our current crop of stars certainly has potential. Sustained excellence in the NFL is rare, though, so it's hard for me to rank any of them near the top of my all-time favorite list without a career's worth of production. Cam and Olsen could certainly be contenders by the end of their playing days.

He won us a lot of games !!!

He certainly did. After the past few years since Kasey has been gone I have realized how lucky we were to have such a good kicker. Still, he needed to be perfect on that kickoff and he wasn't. Its the only reason I don't consider him a favorite.
