Bro, you're fighting the good fight but with the Shula haters you can't win with logic or actual knowledge of football.

I have to keep reminding myself that no matter what happens good pr bad the same folks are going to make the same lame comments and let it go.  You just cant fix stupid and I sometimes forget that.

LOL I love how the national pundits are now smart and know what they are talking about when they agree with you.

Well no they still don't know this team or poo about it and they've proven that time and time again and the same people propping up Shula denounce these "pundits and former players that know what they are talking about" when convenient tot he conversation at hand. They can't even call the game or know the players on the team much less know why our offense is good or how it runs.

They only know the fugin rules when they care about the QB or his skin color isn't black....but yea pundits lol that's the Shula defense.

Hey is Rosario Dawson on the team still? Donald? Josh Norman still the leader and soul of that Carolina Defense? rofl

No and neither is Shula worth a poo.

What I would expect, lumping in all the talking heads in the same group as if they all don't know anything. Same generalities that always get talked about on the huddle as if it is wisdom.  if you cant see the difference between guys who actually know the game versus those who dont have a clue there is no reason to talk to you.  I guess John Madden had no clue either, wasnt he a talking head?

With some of your comments I even get embarrased for you it gets so bad,

Me and you remember the days of a 'real' bad play caller... Dan Henning.

Fwiw, I thought that Henning did a pretty decent job considering what he had to work with.  Had some talent in 2003, but after that, it was find whatever healthy running back we could, or throw it to Steve Smith and hope he could outfight everyone for the ball.

If you want to say that Shula isn't a great coordinator -- fine.

If you want to say that Shula isn't even a good coordinator -- fine.

But you can't say he's average. And you can't say he's bad. There are no good arguments for these stances. Yes he needs to get the play calls in on time, but the failure to do that doesn't make him a bad coordinator. Do you guys watch the rest of the league? Do you see some of the other offenses in it? He's not "bad" by any metric.

There's no question that Cam makes him look better than he is, but that's supposed to be the case. This is a team sport. One piece is supposed to make another piece look better. Jordy Nelson makes Rogers look better than he is. Belicheick makes Brady look better than he is. Montana made Rice look better than he is. Etc. Etc. This is the game.

And I keep hearing this "He keeps running up the middle ahhh" argument. Where theirs really only three places to run it. The middle. The left. The right. You guys act like his has a billion options and he just chooses to run up the middle for some reason. And you know why he runs up the middle as often as he does? Norwell. Kalil. Turner.... Or would you rather us run it behind Remmers all game?

I'd think Shula is a good coordinator, not great, but definitely good.

Shula is an above average O.C he's fortunate to have a transcendent talent like Cam as a QB who in turns makes his playcalling better than it is.

For every 78 yard Olsen bomb, there's 112433 DESIGNED TOLBERT RUNS, long developing out-routes on 3rd and 3, and overall lack of creativity at times.

I'm confident that even with a slightly more flexible O.C than Shula this offense would be 18-1 Patriots levels of unstoppable.

Many people hate on Shula (and every other OC) because hindsight is 20/20 and because they played Madden. That makes them qualified to be an NFL offensive coordinator, but Shula's daddy was a great NFL coach and their dad wasn't so they never got the chance. It really gets tiresome after awhile.

Some of these folks are worse than my wife about "why did they run it up the middle". Shut up and make me a sammich.

I certainly don't agree with every call. I'm a high school basketball coach and I don't agree with every decision Roy or Coach K makes. But it doesn't mean they are bad coaches. Not every play works every time.

For the record, I don't think Shula is the best in the game but I think he's done a great job using the tools given to him.

Generalities eh?

"  I love how each week the announcers and folks who actually coached or played the game talk about how creative and innovative our offense is and then folks like you come on and criticize it.  " -p55

Then Tiki gets on our game and blames Bradberry for the TD he gave up when Boston was supposed to stay back and help the post. I suppose the ones who "know the game" are the ones who say Shula is good, but really they looking at our offensive rank and going "what's the name of their OC?"..."*name of OC* has done a great job in Carolina"(reading from a sheet) and that's it and all they have to say. They don't know the team nor do they care.

If 45 year old Madden said Shula was good, yea I'd listen but Madden himself was relentlessly made fun of in his later years and comedians can do entire bits on him.

Lets quote Mr. Madden shall we:

"There’s a lot of letters in Ladanian Tomlinson"

"A team should never practice on a field that is not lined. Your players have to become aware of the field’s boundaries."

"The best way to gain more yards is advance the ball down the field from the line of scrimmage."

"If you lose your best cornerback and punter, I’d say that’s a double loss."

"It’s 3rd and 20..They need a good play here."

"See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands."

"When you have great players, playing great, well that’s great football!"

"Ruben Brown made that play there, well I mean he missed the guy completley but he was able to create just enough room for Thomas Jones by whiffing. The air he created on the miss gave Jones enough space to score."

"If the quarterback throws the ball in the endzone and the Wide Receiver catches it,. It’s a touchdown."

"If this team doesn’t put points on the board I don’t see how they can win."

"Whenever you talk about a Mike Shanahan offense, you’re always going to be talking about his offense."

"Some yards is better than none yards?"

"Here’s a guy, here’s a guy who when he puts his contacts in, he can see better"

"Usually the team that scores the most points wins the game."

"Mark Brunell usually likes to soak his balls before a rainy game."

"When your arm gets hit, the ball is not going to go where you want it to."

"They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it."

"The Dallas Cowboys have 2 types of plays in their playbook. Passing plays, and running plays."

"When its raining the field gets wet, then all of a sudden everyones running slower?"

But seriously Madden was great but damn was he funny when he got old.

People still hating on a co-ordinator that just called a 46 point game because of single "mistakes" (most of which aren't mistakes but actually legit 4 minute offence plays where you want to make sure you keep the ball in between the lines but not run your QB for no reason in the 4th quarter).

The only thing I can really compare you guys to at this point is Rex Ryan, and that's saying something.

Didn't call a 46 point game.. Defense scored

One of Shula's best in the air but I still think the ground game still needs work. I like our added tricks and options but most of our runs are really obvious and we should have the most potent playaction in the league.

We rushed for 178,yards yesterday. Our back up had 100 of those yards. How much better on the ground do you want than that? Like you really can't ask for a better rushing attack than what we have

I don't have an issue with the playcalls. A lot of times, the play isn't very effective because it wasn't executed correctly. Sometimes, the DC just sees something, and the play is nullified, but that happens in the chess match of football.

My only real gripe is the delay it takes to get to the line and get the play off. Whether that's on Shula, Rivera, Cam, or whomever - it needs to stop. We should flow more, scripting at least 3 or 4 plays ahead  - again, like chess. Strategy shouldn't be reactive, which is what it feels like at the moment. It's planning ahead to ensure victory through a series of moves.

Against poor to good teams, this can work, provided the execution is there. Against very good to elite teams, it can get you killed quickly. Need a more fluid approach to our offense, and I won't utter a peep about Shula, or whomever is slowing us down.

I wasn't particularly impressed by the calls. Stewart and Tolbert were struggling. Luckily Fozzy saved it but that wasn't the plan. And maybe I was drunk with victory early but I don't remember us faking the run much even when Fozzy was moving. We keep pounding for sure but our ground game is pretty basic outside of when Cam gets creative on his feet.

My coaching experience is fantasy football and madden though maybe comprehending Shula's out of my league
