Chip Kelly: "It's like Eddie George that can throw."

Kelly can't blame defenses for coming after Newton, who's 6-foot-5 and weighs 260 pounds, like they would a running back.

"The designed quarterback runs, the quarterback counters, the quarterback powers, you know, you saw those," Kelly said of how Carolina used Newton against Denver. "You know you really have to be prepared for it because Cam is unlike any other quarterback in the league.

"He's a second running back back there. ... It's like Eddie George that can throw. You know, it's a tough task for any defense.

I think he means that it's fine to hit him and treat him like that, but just don't aim at the head or the knees.

If Cam has the ball tucked and is beyond the line of scrimmage then hits to the head or knees are actually completely legal.

I don't like how they keep comparing him to running backs. It's annoying.

HE'S A QUARTERBACK!!!

To be fair, to the point he's making, he's right. You can't run power runs and QB draws and read options and love that it's a part of what makes Cam special but then complain that he's compared to running backs.

If you want to blame someone, blame the staff for using him like one.
