Cam Newton: My job is not to lobby for my health

top dawg

You can't read any article about Newton without the place being littered with stupid ass remarks about the fumble recovery in SB50.

But the guy doesn't let it deter him. He ends up taking a ridiculous beating in the rematch, but still stands tall and manages to lead his team, in Mile High mind you, on a final, and what should have been a game winning drive that unfortunately ended in a missed kick. What does he get for his efforts? Yet another keyboard warrior questioning him. Good grief. People like this deserve to have to watch Jimmy Clausen take snaps behind center.

Cam previously spoke out at one point about a ref telling him he isn't "old enough" to get a call.

He hasn't been afraid to speak up. But everytime he does, the media tries to turn it into a distraction for the team. They drilled him over the Super Bowl postgame, and he's still getting poo for it to this day. It's no surprise whatsoever that he is unwilling to give these assholes anymore fuel to attack him with.

However, it is asinine to insinuate that he is unaware, or unwilling to acknowledge/rehash this continually because he is simply not concerned enough about his health considering he and the team are currently focused on our upcoming opponent, not the Denver Broncos.

No where did I say he wasn't concerned about his health? What I said is that he should be the main lobbyist for his health, period.  When it comes to health, damn what people think.  Everyone saw what was done to Cam, and it's pretty much indefensible, so anyone in the media who would dare attempt to cast some negativity upon Cam for speaking out for himself (which of course, means that he is effectively speaking out for others) would look pretty stupid.  Like I said, if Brady, Belichick and Kraft spoke out if Brady was in a similar situation, then not only would everyone be saying they were absolutely right, but the league would take the issue more seriously.  I don't see how anyone would argue against that, unless they just want to argue.

Yes! Bitching,  whining, and complaining about people being mean to him would be the best thing to do to garner support!

He needs to make the game about him.

Lol

Anyone who just thinks this is about Cam is basically just missing the point. Cam already has support. It's almost like some of you guys are holding Cam to a double standard because of what might happen---what someone in the media might say---but if Brady, Manning or Rodgers said it if they were in a similar situation, then it would be totally accepted and understandable. But, no, not Cam. He can't even say anything when he is totally in the right to do so, lest negativity rain downs upon him.

LOL

How do you know it would literally be accepted/praised by everyone if Rodgers, Manning, or Brady spoke out about something like this to the point it was distracting the team just a few days before a home opener?

I don't know if you've noticed, but the league isn't exactly going easy on Brady right now anyway.

I mean, I'm not saying I don't think there is a terrible double standard operating at times in regards to the treatment Newton has received over the years, but making statements like the above as if you can see the future while acting as if other people with contrasting opinions are just misinformed is pretty pointless altogether.

Kind of hard to be misinformed about speculation and opinion.  I'm not the one trying to belittle someone else's...

I know my opinion is not crazy or outlandish, so we'll just have to agree to disagree.
