FTW: Rivera had the worst coaching moment of week 1

i didn't know TD called it. that's interesting and makes it a little more forgivable.

still an awful sunday. hopefully rivera has not regressed.

Yeah I heard TD talk about that one on the radio yesterday. Also they were struggling because Luke's headset went out on that same play so they were already behind as a defense.

This is what I don't get. Why does it take us so long to get the play and hike the ball? It also makes it easier for teams to time our snap. This needs to be addressed but that is how we end up wasting timeouts

Ron had lots of bad coaching moments this week. I want to forget them.

Meh. It was a bad game overall. Lots of sloppy decisions and play. I am not holding against RR particularly because of what Gettleman said months before the game: we had four days to roll out a game plan after our final cuts. That isnt a lot of time to get everyone on the same page. At least three timeouts were taken because the offense couldn't set up in time.

If there is a silver lining it is that we were a field goal away from beating the Superbowl champs ON THEIR FIELD with very little time to prepare.

I have more of a problem with the play call on the 3rd and one before the punt than i do with the decision to punt on 4th and one..that bootleg was a stupid call against that defense..just run Cam straight at the line..shula gonna shula

Then why doesn't every coach waste a timeout on a potential cfhallenge? It's the first time I've seen a coach look so clueless whether to challenge or not.

Time management has been terrible ever since Rivera took over.  It's something that continues to elude him and this team.

That has happened several times. It's not unusual for a team to burn a timeout deciding if they want to challenge. In a sense, if you waste the timeout you still keep the challenge but if you immediately challenge you waste both the timeout and the challenge if you lose.

We made some noob moves.  Hard to argue that in any capacity.

Challenges on where a ball is spotted are the hardest to win imo, we have been screwed over a few times when he has challenged the spot and there is not enough evidence to overturn. I think RR was being cautious, we really couldn't afford to lose a TO but Denver knew it was a dodgy spot so they hurried up which forced Davis' hand. 

Personally I don't like not going for it on 4th and 1. We have one of the best if not the best short yardage option in the league and a proven record that when we go for it we win more games aka Riverboat Ron. We played scared to lose rather than going for the jugular and it cost us a game. 

Last year was magical, sometimes things just go right for you late in games, we had that happen multiple times last year. I think we will be a little more unlucky this year but I still think when it comes down to it we will be right there with the best of the NFC.

On the issue of timeouts and getting the play call in, I'm pretty sure we used two timeouts on the first drive alone lol
