Dean Blandino is an IDIOT!

So if the only call they missed was the one where a guy launched himself into Cam's head and all the other helmet to helmet hits on Newton when dropping back to pass aren't illegal then these officials are fuging up all the time on roughing the passer calls every week in multiple games. That is what you're telling us Dean. But let me guess, when people question the validity of the roughing the passer calls that are much less egregious than the multiple ones Cam Newton took, you're going to say the officials made the right call then as well. There is no desire for truth or consistency and this is regarding player safety. I can see why so many players think the player safety mantra is just lip service.

Holy poo that's crazy. This is about the worst possible outcome. Looks like Newton and the Panthers are going to have to get use to head shots when he drops back to pass.

Idk that I can sit and watch that. Those hit's are illegal and they should be.

Unpopular opinion but he may be right... he said only one call was missed and that was the Marshall hit.

Well the refs did throw a flag on the Stewart hit so they didn't miss that one. We just got fuged over with the intentional grounding.

The hit from Miller he was tackled into by Ware. Could a penalty have been thrown? Yes. Could a penalty also not been thrown? Yes. This one honestly seems like a judgement call.

The last incident of helmet to helmet was when Cam was running to the sidelines and ducked to brace for a hit. In that situation he was a runner; well past the line of scrimmage and Dean's comments about protection being extended to the quarterback, posture etc would seem accurate.

The arm to the back of the head in the pocket is most definitely a penalty however he was talking about strictly helmet to helmet hits so I'll have to let that slide without the context of the entire interview.

Again, without context of the entire interview it's tough but in regards to the 4 helmet to helmet shots he may be correct.

Personally I'd like to see the targeting rule brought over from the NCAA. It's reviewable and the player serves a 4 quarter suspension. At least 2 of those calls would have gotten players ejected in the collegiate ranks.

This will be the new strategy opposing defenses use against Cam.

Any time he rolls to either side,  out of the pocket (something every qb does from time to time,  every game),  he will be blasted in the head.(even though every other qb gets special protections when they roll out of the pocket,  behind the LOS).

Within the pocket,  anytime he hands the ball off to our RB,  he will be hit in the head...........because defenses just can't be too sure if he really handed the ball off or kept it...  so instead of forcing the defenses to actually think..      just let them turn Cam's brain into soup on every handoff.               It's..................within the rules somewhere.!

After he has thrown the ball......defenses can't be too sure if he didn't do some magician type poo and just held onto the ball to run with it later.......         so after he has thrown the ball,  defenses should get the right to hit him in the head.

Essentially everything he does will result in getting hit in the head, because...........defenses just can't be too sure.

The one thing Cam does need to fix is when he has rolled out and decides to throw the ball away.  He waits until the defender is right on him before getting rid of the ball.  That gives the defender a free shot every time because of momentum.  If he gets rid of it a little sooner he may get some calls if the defender hits him.

Like I argued elsewhere, we needed to answer it on the field THAT NIGHT.  Whether that means sending a message by cheapshotting their QB in the same manner, or going for one of the offenders knees, or taking a really late shot out of bounds, it had to be done.  Once the retaliation occurs on field in front of millions of people, it officially makes it an unavoidable issue.  Whereas, after the game, you've seen what happens - they can ignore what they want, pick over what they want to discuss, and thus, reshape the narrative.

This was two games in a row that we chose to be the "bigger" team and not stoop to their level, and they have 2 wins as a result.  People can say all day they'd never wish injury on another player, but they were legitimately trying to permanently injure our best player, and our guys did nothing to retaliate.  They didnt even push a guy after the play...  that's the part that bothers me the most.

I kind of view it like bullying.  If a kid gets bullied, say he is taunted, pushed, and punched in front of a crowd, and he walks away, everyone tells him he did the right thing and was the bigger person.  But sometimes you need to bust that bully's ass in front of a crowd to make a point.  Sometimes authority figures wont act because the bully is "just being his usual self," and they enable it until it becomes a bigger issue.

Had we served the consequences out on the field immediately, it would have forced the NFL to acknowledge what the Broncos were doing, so as to not allow the situation to "get out of hand."  Instead, by being the bigger team, only we suffered.  That may have its place and time to be admired, but after losing the Niners playoff game in '13, the Superbowl, and the season opener due to being the victim of the bully, I have had enough of it and hope we respond differently next time.
