Why you don't pay a zone corner top corner money

I agree somewhat but there is value to what Josh brings. He is eliminating a third of the field. That is a big deal in the NFL.

Redskins problem is they aren't giving any safety help to the other side.

Imagine what a CB like Norman could do for a top tier LB unit that can cover. Would keep teams from stretching the LB unit out. Not to mention the smaller amount of field the safeties have to cover.

Oh well, I am sure saving $1m per game and stretching your defense across the field is much better than spending that money to make all those defenders even better.

I wouldn't go that far, if there is a dominant DE or LT in the draft I picking them over a CB everytime.

I'm not sure you understand the comparison. Teams can scheme to generate the former two. Having a CB who does what Norman did last year is insanely rare and nullifies the way opponents attack you-the way they scheme. Its two different things and the latter is far more valuable than the former.

I see this thread for what it is though so I'm not going to waste time here.

Washington has the dumbest coaching staff alive.  Why in the world did they not let Norman follow the number one guy in Antonio Brown?  Is that not, idiotic to the utmost degree?  You pay a guy 15 million to do nothing?

I'm good friends with a fan of that team, and I can't imagine what is going through his mind right now.  Shoot, if I were a fan, it would be that measure of idiocy that would permanently make me stop being a fan.  It's almost as though they are trying to lose.

Im a Norman guy, i appreciate what he did last year and wish we still had him. Im just saying if i had to choose between those positions CB is still the odd one out.

Lol, so you can't move a zone corner from one side of the field to the other?

And Norman shut down multiple #1 recievers as the primary cover guy for us last year, he just happens to predominantly play zone.  He deserved to be paid.  Reshad Breland, on the other hand, looks like he shouldn't even be in the league tonight.  He sucks in coverage and has taken horrible angles on runs, then missed the tackles he was already in position for lol.  He has been atrocious.  But, at least Josh is earning his money.

Then why don't they?

What's the point of letting Antonio Brown run wild while Josh Norman is covering someone less dangerous?

Saying they'd just throw at Breeland anyway doesn't make it make any more sense.

Only matters if that CB can follow the other team's best playmaker. Otherwise you just stick your WR 3 on him and watch your 1 and 2 go off.

Champ Bailey in Denver, Charles Woodson in Oakland, Richard Sherman in Seattle, Josh Norman in CAROLINA, all predominately plays left side of the defense. One reason is due to right handed QB's more comfortable throwing to their right

But I'll let you guys have your fun cause Norman is no longer here, it's actually really petty but I digress. He's not on our team. No reason to continue having threads about him in the Panthers section

You mean all the other mind boggling things they've done up to this point hasn't made him stop being a fan?
