Shula Speaks

I still cant figure out why we abandoned the run game. JStew only had 16 carries? I just dont get it. Cam would never got hit we were still running the ball. I guess thats why they get paid the big bucks and I sit here at my day job.

Shula problem is abandoning what works and continues something that doesn't work

I want to know who told this mofo to abandon what we had going in the 1st half, in the 2nd half. More read option/misdirection (I see NE run a end-around like 3 times with Amendola), more like 3 step dropbacks, and we had a much better pace in the 2nd quarter

Oh man.

If I had it my way Stewart would have 24 carries for 150 yards and 2 TDs. But it seems like when are plan is to actually run the ball its so obvious that the defense just shuts it down. From a realistic stand point Cams brain is not going to be back to normal after a week then return to hitting.. So hopefully Shula can find a way to get our playmakers the ball and let them carry the game. Wish Byrd was active for this game and have a bunch of junk end arounds with him and Teddy to switch it up.

Now is the time for a young defensive guy to score his own points. Cam would love that.

A good offense?  A wise man once said 'Stats are for losers, the final score is for winners.'  Chud won 6 games.  Shula has never missed the playoffs as our OC.

I'm guessing you haven't taken a look at our defensive stats from 2011.

Chud didn't "win 6 games".  The TEAM won 6 games.  And would have won more with even a mediocre defense and a Rivera that had found his Riverboat earlier.

Doesn't want the MVP carrying the ball 11 times but in the game where he took 10934039 head shots, he keeps calling QB draws and read options on every other play. Shula at his finest.

I honestly think Cam is safer running.

If the Huddle would pay 1/2 the attention to our offense in the off-season that it does in the regular season maybe we would have 1/2 as good as the Huddle apparently wants it to be. We complain constantly about what is wrong with the offense in September/October yet in April/May we are content that our GM has basically elected to ignore the offense entirely.

Again, in the Newton era, the Panthers have gone offense first exactly once in the Draft...and that was in the bottom of the first round...taking about the 9th pass-catcher...in a year that our front office literally cut/elected not to sign our 4 most productive pass-catchers. And keep in mind Newton came into the WORST offense of all time so it wasn't like there was a ton of talent prior to his arrival.

As much as Shula is limited, he has not exactly been given the Colts, Dallas, Packers, or the Giants offensive pieces to work with. When our passing attack ONCE AGAIN finishes in the bottom third of the league maybe the Huddle will think twice before cheering on Gettleman as he takes another DL in the first or drafting 100 CBs in a row.

There is nothing wrong with what Gettlemen is doing...but please stop complaining about how non-productive a particular aspect of our offense is WHILE calling Gettlemen a genius for doing little to address said weak aspect of our offense.

maybe mix in some slants and screens shudog

Slants are hard to pull off with as many defenders in the box as we typically face.

And screens don't really play into Cam's strengths since he sometimes has trouble with those kinds of passes.  Hell he had a pass last game to a wide open receiver (I think it was Funchess) in the flat that looked like a bubble screen but he threw in the dirt.

I feel like I'm the only one who liked the play-calling in the Denver game.  There is only so much you can do against that defense.  The only play call I really hated was the shovel pass to Tolbert on 3rd down.

I've seen some people complain about Newton running on the last drive but didn't both runs lead to like 10 yard gains?  We were in field goal position despite horrible management of our timeouts.  Can't blame Shula that the Broncos have 2 HOF Pass Rushers who knew we were passing and thus could tee off on Cam.  That is why we had to throw in a couple of QB draws to do something to slow them down.

I think we will be more aggressive this week against the 49ers.

    • We can't afford to reach for one of the first round QBs this year. I would love for nothing more than Bryce to be the reason we don't even scout the bastards
