And he said it took an hour and a half to get out and when it did come out, they didn't get it right - and didn't offer any refills.

Just saying that if I had to wait an hour and a half for food and didn't get a single refill request, I'd be pissed too. It's either you call a manager and risk firing someone, or don't leave a good tip. Or be passive-egressive and leave a bad Yelp review. Bad service doesn't warrant good tips.

...Or stay your ass at home and do what you're good at... serving yourself...

DWill is in the unique position that he could have reached out to management, offered to pay for a cheap customer service program for the restaurant serving staff, and just let it go...

But no, he has to make a spectacle of himself and defend his right to be a cheap asshole... and then kick the server down a second time...

Color me surprised that resident conservative TN05 isn't in favor of paying the plebeians who only partially cater to his outrageous needs.

Can't come up with a good argument to give this poor service a good tip, so insult me. Great. You are saying, if you were in this situation (excessively long wait for food and when it was done the food came out wrong, no refills, terrible service) you'd give a 20% tip? You'd pay another $25 on top of that?

I've never personally encountered a situation where I don't tip (granted, I don't have the type of money to buy $100 meals). This situation seems like one, at least from what 34 is saying. Good grief guys.

This is true... but until they fix the system, it is up to us as respectable humans to make up the difference...

And it's up to the server to provide great service. That is their job. Their job is not to hand you a plate. If you're looking to pay rent by counting on tips, you're in the wrong profession.

So it's her fault that the chefs/restaurant couldn't get her the food in time.

edit: If the waiter doesn't offer a refill, i request one.

Some restaurants split tips with the kitchen. Overall service is this disastrously bad, don't tip. It's that or call a manger. Which would you want - lose $25 tip, or risk losing your job because an NFL player said you gave bad service?

But there are often variables at play that negate their ability to provide service by each person's standards...

People should be able to make rent payments, and earn a living wage, in the service industry. You don't know why these people ended up here, nor the things in their lives that have contributed to this level of employment.

Therefore, you should do the right, human, thing and have a little empathy towards your fellow man.

How much excess do you have in your personal lives that you can't put a little aside and pay for someone to wait on you, even if you don't consider their services to be up to par?

Ah, virtue signaling. You know full well you wouldn't give the tip, you just want the moral superiority.

If you're comfortable giving 20% for that service, you must regularly be giving 40% for excellent service. Or do you not actually reward people who provide great service?

I leave a penny when I get bad service just so they know I didn't forget to leave a tip. Luckily I've only had to do that twice that I can remember

Maybe if you ever need a blood transfusion, they'll only give you one drop just so you know that they know you're an asshole.

Because blood for life-saving surgery and money for terrible service are the same thing to Bronn.

1. DeAngelo was a notoriously poor tipper here in Charlotte. He once pulled this at 521 BBQ and left a very poor tip for my ex-girlfriend who was working there at the time. She said she went out of her way to provide him great service because she's a Panthers fan.

2. Lots of you guys are sounding ignorant at best, assholes at worst. Unless someone straight up cusses you out or spits in your food, you ALWAYS tip at least 10% no matter how bad the service. These people make basically nothing as their base salary and rely on you for tips. Don't think that's fair? Then don't eat out or eat at McDonald's.

Sorry that happened to your ex and you're right we don't know the full story here, but we shouldn't be held responsible for paying the wages of someone. Not our problem, we're there to pay for good food and excellent service should be included with that meal price.

    • Man that was awful.  Completely killed my NBA fandom in a way that will never recover. I loved that Hornets team.  The Bobcats were the worst possible replacement.
    • OK, so this is a bit weird.  When I coached at Salisbury High School when I first started teaching, I used to go over to Catawba College to watch film and talk football with their coaches.  They were great. Curtis, Jalon's father, I assume, was a LB at Catawba and hired as LB coach by Bennett When Coastal started their program, they hired Catawba's coach Bennett.  Bennett must have taken Jalen's father with him to Coastal. I am guessing that is about the time Jalon was born and why he was in Conway. So then his father comes back to Salisbury after Jalen is born and takes the head coaching job. Jalen is a good interview.  I love the kid based on this, and I have heard good things from former colleagues of FB.  Salibury (when I was there) was a very rough school.  Gangs, drugs, etc.  To put it in perspective, I was there for 2.5 years and I had four (4) students in my class (at different times) who committed murder during that time. A girl was raped in the gym by a few boys.  One night, after a game (there is a road between the coaches offices in the gym and the rest of the school) the coaches watched film until 1 AM or so.  When we were leaving to walk to our cars parked across that street, we noticed a car sitting in the middle of the road about 100 yards away with its lights off.  The driver took off when we neared the street, so we all hit the ground.  As the car passed, we heard about 6 or 7 gunshots.  The next day, the van behind where we fell to the ground had 2 bullet holes in it, about 5 feet above the ground.  All that to say this:  If the young man on the video endured anything like that, I want him to succeed and I found it interesting that he mentioned playing for the Panthers.  I am not sold on the player as a fit here based on our needs, but I am sold on the person.  Very proud of him for some reason that many may not understand.
    • First off, he's not even eligible for a contract yet.  You have to play three years. And thank goodness! All we saw last year were glimpses.  Yes, those glimpses were enough that I think every fan wants to see him come back next year.  But bottom line is that so far, with only a couple games worth of exceptions, he hasn't yet shown that he's a FRANCHISE QB.  He hasn't shown the consistent ability to elevate the players around him. He could be the guy.  After week two of this year, just saying that much is a massive, massive positive swing.  But let's see him put it together for 17 games.  Let's see him make the people around him BETTER.  Then we can talk about extending him. Let's not lose sight of the fact that thus far in his career, in no season has BY exceeded the rookie stats of MAC JONES. We should  be excited for the possibility, but we certainly haven't seen yet what we need to see to declare we have our guy.
