Brutal Honesty

Being sarcastic right? This defense is different that last year? It is slightly different than last years at prebyeweek.
No. Trgo called blitzes from all over the place, dropped linemen in coverage, and played the CBs in man-to-man at times. What Meeks is running is much more true to the tampa two. In New York Fox ran a zone that depended on line pressure, and all three of our coordinators have started with that here, but they each took it in their own direction.

Are you Turgo's brother or something? Meeks called a fair share amount of blitzes the past 2 weeks and they still didn't work. Corners are still giving too much cushion. Nothing has changed from this year and last year. Fox is the one controlling the defense.

I will never, ever, ever understand why they never ran more slants with Smith.

Never.

I wonder if it was maybe fear of him taking big shots on a small frame.

Shoot, it is the only reason I can think of, cuz I'd be slanting and bubble screening to that dude all Sunday.

Yeah, he can beat a guy on the hitch and go and jumpball wrastle with anyone, but his vision and where to be in space tells me he was underutilized for whatever reason.

oops. maybe I just shot my execution not scheme thing in the foot there. :)

Turgojag?

I mean really if there is any difference from last year, it's that there is a little more blitzing. There was very little of that under Turgo. The corners still play off too much, the same bend but don't break is still in place. The secondary is still in prevent mode when the offense is on the 10 yardline. We're still getting our ass kicked. We signed the coordinator from one of the worst defenses in the league just so that he can be a yes man.

What game were you watching last Sunday? The Panthers hardly blitzed the entire game, and the line played pretty much straight up most of the time. I can remember maybe twice where a defensive lineman was back in coverage, and both times it was an end.

Everybody in a position to know has said that Meeks would blitz less, and so far they've been right. Your imagination may conjure up some, but that doesn't make them real. Meeks doesn't try and generate pressure in the same way that Trgovac did. That's not necessarily a bad thing either, as Trgovac's efforts often left us looking stupid and no closer to the quarterback as Meeks got us Sunday.

They're different coaches with different styles. Like most head coaches, Fox tells them what he wants to see and they go implement it in their own way. They also call the plays on the field, and do so in a different manner from one another.

I wanna know what game you were watching. They did blitz. I saw it and everyone else saw that and commented on it in the gameday thread. Since when did Turgo try to generate pressure? How do you see any difference in the defense from this year to last? You can't because there is none.
