you think Fox/Hurney is gonna trade away a guy(would have to be a good that is seeing some current action) at this point simply b/c Kemo went down? Seems a tad late for that......also the problems with the defense exist with or with out a "Kemo".

I could see them giving up more picks though and doing what you are suggesting. I just see Fox and company to be to loyal to players that have already committed the this season....do trade one.

the reality of the hot seat may cause a little movement like that.

i don't think they were really considering the possibility of an 0-3 record going into the bye, especially as ugly as it has been on both sides of the ball. picks would be an easy one if you have a feeling you might not be here next year. mortgaging the future so you have one is a pretty big possibility.

picks for a player or pick and a player for a player.... either one i could see.

Do you know something that we dont?
i wish i did but then if i did i wouldn't have said anything so you would never have known.

anyway, i'm just sniffing the air and that is what i'm picking up. i just don't think that we are done yet. too much going on and too much at stake for that to be the case.

Can Fox not realize there is a reason the Cover 2 is dying out, It Doesn't Work Anymore. O. Coordinators have seen it for years and it doesn't take a genius O coordinator to figure out how to exploit it. With this dline it doesn't stand a chance of working.

Yep..at this point we will probably need to rush blitz almost every down and play bump and run coverage to stop teams from rushing for 200+ yards. Another option is that we could switch to the one-man line formation using Peppers as the one man, since after all he is making more than most team's entire defensive lines.

I really doubt a player will be involved, considering player for player trades are extremely rare in the NFL, even with draft picks included. Even more so there aren't any players we have that would work well in such a scenario without handicapping us in some other area on the team.
good point. they made space for two players today but only picked up one. they also relieved some money.

i don't know. maybe just making way for someone else. hopefully another DT.

They may have gambled a little bit, but it looked like a good gamble at the time since Kemo had only missed a couple of games since he's been here.

BTW, I do count Irvin. He may not be the same type of player as Kemo, but there's only a small handfull of Kemo type players in the country. And there's no way they knew Irvin would get hurt either.

We have to count Irvin, he was a third round pick. We could name endless third round picks that are the very minimal, contributors. Of course, we could name more Panthers that were less that we picked in the third round in the Fox era.

The Patriots use a formation every once in a while I love. In it no one is on the line directly but at the snap the guys that rush come at the line. It is very confusing to the Oline (Don't know who's coming), QBs (don't know where the blitz is coming from and lots of activity to confuse them), and RBs (a lot harder to make the gap read). All in all I would love to run this everydown I think this needs to be its own defense just like the 4-3 and 3-4. Call it the 0-7, LOL.

Yeah, but it wouldn't have mattered if we had picked the best DT in the draft...he still wouldn't be able to do what Kemo could do. Heck, you can just about count those type of players on the fingers of one hand, and all of them already had jobs when Kemo got hurt. That's just the way it is. It has nothing to do with the team addressing or not addressing the D-line in the draft or FA. Hell, if it was that easy, Haynesworth would be a Panther right now.

So you are saying there are only 5 one dimensional DTs in the league who can eat up space well and defend the run?

Not a bad idea.

Actually, I think they should load up one side of the O-line (the other team's O-line) more often. Shift the linebackers over a bit to the opposite side in case of a run (delay would hurt, though). Obviously, this would not work if a run as apparent. Or, just use the linemen on one side of the O-line and blitz the hell out of the other side. What will the O-line decide to do? Pick up the LB'ers, or pick up the linemen?

I know nothing of football. Ignore my ideas.

Give or take. No matter how many there are though, teams don't let those guys walk without trying their damndest to re-sign them, and when they do walk, they demand more than the Panthers could afford right now.
