Cecil Newton Goes Off on the NFL

"I'm beginning to question the consistency of how games are being called -- and who they would call this particular play against versus this particular player," Newton's father said. "Was Cam treated differently from other quarterbacks? In this case, yes he was -- clearly. Anybody who has followed the game for any length of time and has a working knowledge of how the game is to be played would agree with that statement.

"People throw all these jingles out there about he's mobile, he's bigger, he's more physical. There's a lot of this and that. At the end of the day, Cam deserves to be protected just like Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Ryan Tannehill, Kirk Cousins, Andy Dalton, and the list goes on and on. I know a good hit when I see a good hit. I was a defensive player, and I played the game at the highest level as well. But when you deliberately target and when you're constantly being hit after the ball is out, I question the intent of the defensive player, and I question the official who, basically, if he does not warn them, lets the flow of the game continue."

That's right, Mr. Newton! Defend your son!

I don't pay to see this. Great tackles yes.  Head shots, targeting head shots, no I don't 

Denver knew exactly what they were doing. There is no question and they need to be made an example of for it

Cam's neutral position is about to change because he sees what's happening. His dad subtly called it. I also looked on Twitter and people were calling Cam a crybaby, but for what? He didn't point the finger, he took his hits and played the game.

People affiliated with this team and outside have to keep the pressure up with this or the league is going to desperately try to sweep it under the rug and get back to the normal. Ron didn't do Cam or the team any favors today with his Mr. Nice Coach approach, but if others can keep pressing, the dam will burst.

Just a thought but to you think Ron Cam and the team got a warning or something last year when they called Ed out to the media and the NFL had to squash it before other players and teams called refs out so that's why they are being kind of neutral about it this time around

It needs to be said and published and I'm glad Goodell got called out. 

Gene should question his character and his crew's character. He should not be sleeping easy knowing he let flagrant and violent behavior set a precedent for how teams can intentionally head hunt our QB.

I'm glad this is getting the attention it deserves. It was a large part of what was talked about today. I just rewatched the game and even Chris Collinsworth noticed it. And that's saying something.

Like I've said on this board today, Cam is getting Shaqed. I don't think it has a lot to do with race...meaning he's black and he's not getting the call. It's possible but I don't think so. I think it is how he plays and the refs are confused as to how to deal with it and I don't know why.

Every other QB in the league gets those calls. Why not Cam? Makes no sense. I also agree with whomever said it that a personal foul should not be able to be offset by any other penalty.

Rivera dropped the ball big time.  This is when the coach goes CRAZY knowing he's going to get a tech... sheeit, even get thrown out.  Who cares, the NFL knows they have a problem right now when America's most hated is being defended by literally everyone in the world.  Kick the f'n beehive Ron!  They are cornered, and maybe we'll finally get him the respect he deserves.  Don't let them slip away!

Many may disagree and may call me biased because I'm an Auburn fan (I *am* an Auburn fan and I *am* biased lol), but I fugging love Mama and Daddy Newton because (and here comes the likely disagreement with some) I think they're damned good people.
