How about a common sense rule change?

If a personal foul happens concurrent with another foul by the opposing team, why not have the personal foul negate the other foul? I know it makes too much sense, but isn't safety important?

If the NFL wants to attempt to continue with their "player safety" mantra with any shred of credibility, their needs to be a rule change that does not allow a personal foul to be offset.

It actually does in most cases. Intentional grounding is just not one of those cases because it carries a loss of down penalty. Illegal motion or holding wouldn't have offset the personal foul.

Common sense would be enforce the intentional grounding penalty first. Which is spot foul and loss of down. The enforce the  personal foul. 15 yards and  automatic first down.

My thing is ... The refs don't know if Cam is gonna run.

First if you cant tell if he is trying to pass or if its a run play, you shouldn't be an NFL ref.

Second ... a QB should be protected as a passer behind the line of scrimmage, until he commits by tucking the ball as runners do.

how about you call the personal fouls the way they are supposed to be and then you don't wind up with guys turning themselves into projectile missiles by the 4th?  case closed.  

fug those refs and fug the entire broncos defensive unit from the coordinator right down to the guy that brings them water in practice.  that is not how you play defense.

Most common sense rule is for Time Out to be called only by people on the field.  You should have to physically signal it - not a "I want call time out just before they snap the ball".

 

You should have to signal the TO before he snaps the ball.

Exactly! If they had called the first one that happened in the first half then the rest probably would not have happened. By not calling it the refs gave the Broncos approval to keep doing it all game long.

simple common sense rules to me

it doesn't matter if he is running, skipping, doing jumping jacks.  if a player leads with the crown it is supposed to be 15 regardless of whether they hit the helmet, the chest, anywhere.  that is the rules.

keep hearing this stuff about being a runner, blah, blah, blah by folks that don't know the rule. most of the hits in question were when cam was passing,  but even if he is running the rules still protect him from idiots who "tackle" recklessly and dangerously.
