We're all clueless when it comes to roughing the passer

What I don't get is how the refs can call an intentional grounding while also throwing a flag for a shot to the head/personal foul.

When a QB gets hit while simultaneously throwing a ball and the ball doesn't get back to the original line of scrimmage or in the area of a receiver, it is deemed incomplete.

Why shouldn't the same apply when you are throwing and getting speared in the head with a helmet???

The refs like to conveniently forget rules when it comes to things that would get them booed by a jacked up crowd, or help the panthers or try and protect the league mvp, or when it's time to just do the right thing period.

Well, honestly, spearing is illegal regardless of the person carrying the ball...so step one is making sure the NFL begins to enforce the rules that are currently on the books.

Is spearing to the head an ejectable offense?

Or am I just getting the college game confused with the NFL?

Fug the NFL; Sign Hardy.

Would be the ultimate poetic justice.  After being allowed to play in week 1 helping us win a game with a backup QB after Cam was injured against the cheating Patriots, he is released after this week 1 debacle.

It also bothers me that the fact that Cam attempted to get rid of the ball to avoid a fifth and final blow to the head was penalized equally with the hit to the head.

Exactly...a blow to the head should not be offset by an intentional grounding.  I get that the officials made the correct call by offsetting those two, but in reality the blow to the head is far worse and should be penalized to some degree regardless of whether there is another flag.  No one ever suffered serious injury from intentional grounding.

That honestly should be penalized the same way a post play foul would. They should have assessed the grounding and then marked off 15 yards for the foul. That is a compromise, but damn it to hell, pull that piss yellow hank out for christs sake.

I mean, shame on us for not responding in kind.  At the end of the day, regardless of rules, if a kid is trying to take your lunch money, you fight him.  If that's what you have to do, then do it.  Play the game the refs are allowing at that point in time.  Force them to make calls.  We sat idly by and got punched in the mouth.  This is professional football, and when guys jobs are on the line, you do what you have to do.  I'm sick to my stomach over the hits Cam took last night, and it all went undisciplined, whether by the refs, our players, or NFL execs.

If we could have gotten to their QB, we may have done that.
