People talk like Brees is such a class act and poo he gets so much respect from media and random "fans" but he continually puts his team in a bind financially not allowing them to get other pieces or you know, an oline to actually protect him....

To Brees's credit, I'm pretty sure he can spend it better than the Saints FO :)

I don't blame him, dude got paid what he's worth. He has to take care of himself first and foremost. Flacco did the same thing. Cam did the same thing. Wilson did the same thing. Rodgers, Rapistburger, etc. etc. Only QB that doesn't really get paid his market value is Brady because he values winning over all else plus his wife makes more money than he ever will.

Brees is still an elite QB, I don't care what the misinformed huddle masses want to believe. The saints wouldn't win a game if he weren't their QB the past 2 years. He was 130 yards away from a 5th 5000 yard season last year, and he missed that one game against us. His regression is far overblown by this message board and I still absolutely hate playing him twice a year because he is the sole reason the saints are ever in a position to beat us.

He's one of the best and is being paid like it, even in the twilight of his career.

Soo your saying cam hamstringed the Panthers with his contract? Cam could have gotten way way more elsewhere it's a proven fact he is undervalued in terms of real contract dollars. I'm not saying brees isn't elite because he is I'm saying hed rather focus on dollars then wins....to each his own I just don't get all the brees love at the end of the day he's looking out for himself he's not the team first player he is portrayed to be

It basically a $24MM one year extension, with next year being spread over 4 years.

It's so odd visiting the Saints forum and seeing multiple posts of "Loomis isa a God!" and "How does Loomis do it?" It blows my mind how this GM continues to kick the can down the road and will now have even more dead money from a QB who probably won't even be there, but hey, Loomis, amirite??

Also, Drew got a big win by putting in a no tag clause and no trade clause, so if Saints want him somehow after next season, they will pay his $6MM dead money each season for 3 seasons (regardless) as well as his (probably) $25MM salary. My guess is he finally moves on. Thinking of him on the Bills, Broncos, or Texans is a scary thought.

    • Yeah and he succeeded at an even higher level in LA with an even better surrounding cast. Goff is a guy that isn't really able to dramatically elevate players around him but he can make a good situation even better. He is capable of that. Some QB's aren't. I am not sure Dak is able to do that and he is in a similar "class" as Goff, IMO.
    • i think i could handle that for a year. beyond that....i don't know.  back where we lived, when we had a few inches of snow, it might have been a couple feet because we weren't getting out and doing anything. i remember times where power would go out for days on end. we had propane and electric heat, depending on the floor. basement (had a couple bedrooms and a living room and kitchen down there) and main floor had gas logs. main floor gas logs was enough to take care of the upstairs, so we could stay warm and cook on the grill when we needed. we had a well so that was always an issue when the power went out. had to make sure tubs were filled with water for the toilets and we had gallons of water for drinking and cooking available. always had to make sure we were ready. that wasn't always the case. we had a couple moments where we were going through propane quickly and because we were dealing with the worst propane company in the world (amerigas) they wouldn't get out to put gas in our 900 gallon tank. made for some nerve racking moments.  i know y'all were probably a lot more able to handle that kind of thing, but after the little bit (comparatively) that we got here i just have no desire to get trapped again. maybe for a day or two a year get snowed in and i'm good.
    • I think he is just drawing a DC to them line and that's about as far as his thought process went. It makes almost no sense outside of that. Also, it doesn't make sense for Pittsburgh or Seattle at this juncture either.  I think our "veteran" pool is basically gonna be the Dalton/Flacco tier or the "pick your poison" options of young busts(Jones/Z. Wilson) or wild, TO prone gunslingers(Darnold/Winston/etc). We have the option to pursue I genuinely believe(depending on the way the rest of this season goes), we either draft a QB in the top 10 or resign Dalton. Outlier third option on taking one of the wild gunslingers that Dave feels like he can work with.
