I believe CBS Sports just reminded me of Slim Pickens. They decided they were gonna ride into Rock Ridge all a herpin' and a derpin'.

For the purposes of Panthers related, I'll pull just the parts where the Panthers are mentioned but the Panel of Derp has a lot to say that is LOL worthy. To be fair, most of it just seems like they were asked for hot takes...because that is what constitutes sports analysis these days. But definitely worth the chuckle to stroll on by to CBS Sports and see what half-witted scheme Slim Pickens and Hedly LaMarr have come up with next.

Super Bowl champions

Will Brinson: Panthers
The entire NFL is going full Dangerfield on a team that went 15-1 last year. Is there a possibility for a Super Bowl hangover? Sure, but this is an ascending roster, not the other way around. The Josh Norman loss will sting but the contract will look worse for Washington when all is said and done. Carolina could come back to earth in the regular season, but they're by far the best team in the NFC South and clearly capable of a deep run.

Super Bowl MVP

Will Brinson: Cam Newton
The run to the title is going to be fueled by the reigning MVP, who isn't getting any love this offseason either. A title run and a strong performance by Cam will net him the honors easily.

Offensive Player of the Year

Jason La Canfora: Ben Roethlisberger/Cam Newton
Both will put up astounding numbers in offenses that will surpass what they did a year ago.

Comeback/Most Improved Player

Sean Wagner-McGough: Kelvin Benjamin
Missed all of last season and will improve upon his rookie numbers now that he's playing with an MVP-caliber Cam Newton.

Free-fall teams

Jared Dubin: Jets, Redskins, Panthers
The Jets played way over their heads last season. Ryan Fitzpatrick comes back to earth and with a tougher schedule, so does his team. Washington is only on this list because I don't expect them to win the division again. They'll still be pretty good. Same with the Panthers -- where pretty much anything can be considered a free-fall from 15-1.

Teams still undefeated after Week 4

Jason La Canfora: Cardinals, Panthers, Seahawks

Will Brinson: Panthers, Seahawks, Cardinals, Steelers

John Breech: Seahawks, Cardinals, Panthers, Chiefs/Steelers
The Chiefs and Steelers play each other in Week 4, which is why they're both listed here. The winner of that game will move to 4-0 and join the Seahawks, Cards and Panthers in the ranks of the undefeated.

To be fair to these guys, this kind of prognosticating is impossible. But that didn't stop them from riding in to Rock Ridge...all a herpin' and a derpin'.

    • Please finish this thing off. The rags look like they quit on the ice. Can’t give them any chance
    • We're about 15th/16th overall in terms of player age and only have 11 players over the age of 29...Not too bad and I was more talking about this incarnation of the team is young. Canales is only 2 years in as a HC and we have young talent to build around. Regardless of what happens with Bryce you can't tell me a team learns how to win by losing a poo ton of games every year. Need to be happy we are currently not a basement dweller at this point in the season like we have been for the last 7 seasons. Even the year we went 7-10 we were 2-7 at this point. We just knocked off the #1 team in the NFC and have a winning record after the first 8 weeks for the first time in over 7 NFL seasons. The team deserves at least a little bit of fan support after having turned a very small corner.
