Very cool.

I saw a lot of whales, dolphins, porpoises and other sea life while I was in the Navy, but seeing a pod of orcas up near Alaska was as majestic a sight as I've ever seen.

I didn't get to see any Orcas but I heard them all the time since I did submarine sonar. Once we were up on patrol near the Arctic Circle, in the middle of nowhere, and I hear, clear as day, a woman screaming. It freaked me out so much I tore off my headset, but it was an orca that apparently was separated from it's pod or something. Eventually other orcas started making noises and I could hear/see them getting back together.

Craziest sound I've ever heard.

AFAIK, there's never been a recorded instance of a wild orca killing a person, and only one time an orca has bit a person.

Captive orcas will kill the poo out of you.
