2017 Running Backs

Also, on RBs, I've done some looking and it is a stacked class and I have a feeling they are going to drop in the draft. Elliot looks solid, but outside of him and Howard there isn't much impact wise from this draft and Howard was a 5th rounder. Even Gurley is looking like he wasn't worth the pick due to blocking. The difference between him and Elliott is the OL, so we may see guys like Chubb and McCaffery falling into the 2nd and if that happens, the rest will fall as well.

In my other thread, I posed picking Hurd in the 4th and honestly, it wouldn't shock me to see him or one of the other guys like Perine or Gallman, etc. make it past the 3rd. Hood will probably be a 5th rounder.

I'd rather load up on DEs/OTs now and go RB later.

It all depends on how you use them.  If your in a more run style offense youll see them make a bigger impact.  Gurley is in a run heavy offense as well but in a much worse scenario than here.  His OL is Much worse than ours, they have no QB, have no WR or even any weapon in the passing game such as a TE like Olsen.

Not a fan at all of Hurd.  Kid is a solid college RB out of that spread.  Very very few Rbs over 6'2-6'3 ever produce in the NFL.  He looks just like a poor mans Derrick Henry.

My guy I want either to move down in the 2nd rnd or oick up early in the 3rd is Perine.  Our offense revolves around the Power run game.  Even if we dump Shula that will be our bread and butter. Perine is one of the most powerful RBs to come out in a while even moreso than Henry.  He has much more ballance and Quickness than Henry as well.  Even Royce Freeman looks good and like a Stewart clone but just doesnt have that physical presence Stewart has.  You rarely se him just power over people.

Perine trucks people

A stud RB to replace J Stewart would be a nice pick up in the draft but after four games it looks like the Panthers draft thoughts need to be on OT and DB. I realize that they got several DBs in the last draft but hopefully they will do better next time!

We might be drafting in the top 5 this season , defense could lose us vast majority of the rest of our games since we managed to lose to the Bucs and Saints. If you're drafting that high , I hope they're not reaching for a CB unless you know he's going to be the 2nd coming of Deion Sanders. I don't think the answer after drafting 3 fuging DBs the previous year is to draft more the following year. If we do draft one I pray to god we dont have to use a 1st rounder to do it. I'd rather them use that on a great RB , DE, or Oline.

We could get any of them, Fournette, Cook, McCaffree ... not sure though if the Panthers will feel the urgency to get a running back. Stewart is injury prone but good when healthy, CAP and Fozzy aren't world beaters but have been serviceable  .  And our defense is the glaring problem with lots of holes.

Hood is not a second round type of talent.   He's good, but he would be wise to stay another year....this year's draft is loaded with rb's.

Fournette is elite, and we'll take him if he falls to us.  And you don't waste a top 10 pick on a position of need...you take the player who is best regardless of position, which is what we did when we drafted Luke while Beason was in his prime.

If we are in a position to take Fournette or Cook, I think we should unless a stud DE is sitting there. A player of ether caliber next to Cam in our read-option is exactly what we need to complete our offense. If they're gone than DE/SAF in the first and come back and grab a stud RB in the 2nd or 3rd. Really like Perine at OU or Connor at Pitt.

Our offense is best suited for a bigger bruiser RB and this draft is Deep at them

Fournette is the elite.

Other options such as Perine and Freeman have been mentioned.

One other guy who has been rising up the board is D'onta Foreman at Texas.  The junior is the 1st RB at texas to go over 1k since Jamal Charles.

At 6'0 245, the dude is a Freak and has the extra gear.

draft is loaded w/ RBs this year.  I wouldn't bite on one until the 3rd or 4th round.

I'd go BPA out of OT/C/DE/DB the first two rounds.

Fournette is elite.  even more talented than Zeke.  There is a reason he was even hyped as the next AP his Freshman year even with Gurley being a Freak coming out and Zeke starting to blow up at ohio state.  He's just been hit with injuries this year, but AP and Gurley were hit hard by injuries their last 2 years of college.  Some questioned if AP could hold up in the league as he was constantly injured.  Gurley many thiught he'd fall to the end of the 1st after his handful of injuries topping if off with the torn ACL.  If Fournette is there we grab him unless Garrett is there as well.

Thing is neither Garrett nor Fournette will be there.

Now as deep as the RB class is .  Most of the big ones this year will be gone by the 3rd.  Freeman may be there because his stock is dropping fast.

Perine and Foreman are my guys because we need Big bruiser guys.  Perine will go mid 2nd so if we could trade down that would be great.  Foreman is going to blast up the board and could end up the 3rd RB behind Fournette and Cook after the combine.  If he is there in the 2nd and we cant trade down for Perine, pull the trigger on him.

My order of guys overall I like now

1st: Garrett, Fournette, Adams, Peppers, McGlinchey

2nd: John Ross, Foreman, Perine, Curtis Samuel, Demarcus Walker, Ramczyk

3rd: Pat Elfien, Ethan Pocic, Taco Charlton, Solomon Thomas, Freeman

3rd: (comp pick) Taco Charlton, Thomas, Orlosky, Dion Dawkins, Davenport

4th: Dawkins, Davenport, Wise jr, Daeshon Hall

I think Gurley > Zeke.   OL makes a world of a difference though.

Fournette needs an OL

We still haven't touched our OT situation and now we need to starting looking at C too.  OL is just a huge need.  I think there will be quality RBs round 3 or 4 personally.

As far your first round goes...

might be old news but I thought McGlinchey was staying.  I like Peppers but he is basically Shaq and we can't get Shaq on the field enough.  I like Adams.  Would add Hooker if we look at S

McGlinchey has said he's staying as of now.

But if you look at the history of Notre Dame players, quite a few say they are staying then come out.  See will fuller last year.  Tuitt in 2014.

Peppers is much different.  He's more of a DB, came in as a corner, moved to safety sophomore year and then hybrid LB this year on offense plays a Percy Harvin type role.  Shaq was a LB/RB.  Shaq never palyed DB, many just said had the athletic ability to.  Peppers has the ability to be a Cam Chancelor.  I like Adams the most though athletic but not the freak Peppers is, but has some of the best insticts from a safety to come out in a while.  Reminds me a bit of Luke but at SS.

Agree Center is a Huge need but top of the 3rd would be perfect to get Kalils replacement.  Just think Foreman or Perine are the Big physical guys we need but wont be around in the 3rd.
