Worley or McClain?

I think they will play a lot with Shaq as the third LB and Bene on the outside as the other outside CB

I know a lot of us have said that ever since Shaq was drafted but have we see anything to indicate that they are actually going to do this? Bene spoke last year about how much harder the slot CB is to play as a position because you have to know, additionally, what the LBers are doing, as opposed to just your man and the Safeties.

It seems that what the team has shown is that Shaq and Bene are still situational. Now we could Shaq's role increase this year which, I would think, could actually reduce Bene's playing time. At that point it would make more sense to throw Bene on the outside since he is better than any other CB we have on the outside right now. But I haven't seen them do that...at all.

So, as of now, it seems Bene will continue to play slot CB. Now as to who will get the nod to start opposite Bradberry? My bet would be McLain but I could see them mixing it up quite a bit. But, in my opinion, the right answer would be to use Shaq all the time and put Bene on the outside. But I'm a fan whose job has nothing to do with football. I don't know or see what the coaches do. I'm confident they will have their finger on the pulse of the team and get the players in the best position.

We saw it in the Arizona game.  It worked well then sticking largely with our base 4-3 and they have some of the best and deepest skill position players in the NFL

Give Worley the start but keep him on a short leash.. 1 little mistake pull'em put McCain in..

If that is the mindset then might as well start McClain or Bene on the outside...

he made too many mistakes to think he can roll into Denver in that pressure environment and not make mental errors.

that is a HUGE environment.  It isn't like a 1 pm Sunday game.  It would be his debut on a bigger stage than if was MNF

But that was after we lost Bene. I guess what I'm saying is that it seems like playing the base 4-3 with Shaq on the field much more often would seem to take away from Bene's reps...unless we went with 1 Safety. So all in all, we haven't seen Shaq and Bene on the field together very often (if at all). And while we all think Bene should be on the outside the coaches don't seem to think this.

You're right but he may respond well to the pressure.. Playing with the 1s may give him all the confidence he needs..

I know, but it worked very well.  So why not employ that....and throw Bene on the outside.

and big picture they might not want Bene out there and would prefer a long CB.  But on that huge of a stage in Denver....give me Bene over Worley for the short term

This is by far the most interesting question in terms of personnel for tomorrow night's game.

Trying to figure out who the inactives might be, it's hard to come up with 7 inactives unless one of Worley or McClain sits out.  The question is complicated too by our thinness at Safety given Marlowe's injury...  If we had to sub in Marcus Ball from the Practice Squad, you'd want the best / most experienced CBs on the field with him.

If one didn't have to think about inactives, it would be easy, and perhaps ideal to suggest a rotation between McClain and Worley, but I honestly don't know that we'll keep 5 CBs active for the game.

If I recall correctly, in his WFNZ radio segment yesterday, Bene mentioned that he, McClain and Worley had all been sharing snaps outside.  I think it was Bene who mentioned it.  I know I heard it somewhere.

I'm tempted to predict Worley could be inactive this week...
